  • Alkane Resources to keep up the pace after revising Boda MRE
Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK, OTC:ALKEF) Managing Director Nic Earner speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after the gold producer and explorer announced a revised indicated and inferred mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Boda Deposit at its Northern Molong Porphyry Project (NMPP) in Central West New South Wales.
A revised indicated and inferred mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the Boda Deposit including Boda 2-3 now stands at 583 million tonnes at 0.58 g/t gold-equivalent (0.34 g/t gold and 0.18% copper) for 10.9 million gold equivalent ounces. This includes 6.38 million ounces of gold and 1.03 million tonnes of copper.
Earner highlights the key change from the original Boda resource: despite a slight reduction in tonnage, the metal grade has notably increased. He suggests that the shift is particularly beneficial as it implies mining lower tonnes for more metal, thereby increasing the potential profit margin.
Furthermore, Alkane is preparing to release updated Kaiser RC drilling results, potentially before Christmas, followed by a resource update in early 2023.
He goes on to say that the company is also advancing scoping studies, including metallurgical results and engineering work, which will culminate in detailed mine plans for Boda and Kaiser.
Alongside these developments, Alkane's Tomingley Goldmine continues to perform strongly, aligning with the company's guidance and contributing to a successful 2023. Work on project delivery are expected to extend the mine's life until 2032, staying within budget and schedule.

  • FTSE 100 hits three-month highs — Market Report
Good morning from London where the FTSE 100 is up at three month highs of around 7,700 points, lifted higher by a great wave of positive sentiment from the US. Markets around the world are interpreting yesterday’s comments from the Federal Reserve as a sign that US interest rates will fall faster than expected during 2024, thereby giving the global economy a nice big boost in the process.
And as you’d expect that is catnip for London’s miners, who will be the ones helping deliver the raw materials needed for that economic growth. The other top gainer on the FTSE 100 in percentage terms at least is Ocado, up nearly 10%.
It also looks like a positive morning for the UK’s defence sector – Minister Grant Shapps is in Tokyo signing an agreement with Italy and Japan to create a new fighter jet programme that will have its headquarters right here in London.
Turning to the Alternative Investment Market now and there are plenty of year-end round ups hitting the wires this morning after what has been a pretty rough 2023 for many. One glowing point of light recently has been those companies with exposure to uranium and there’s more of that today as well, Power Metal Resources’ share price is up by 22% on news that its completed a pre-float fundraise ahead of the listing of its assets in Canada.
I’ll be speaking to their CEO Sean Wade later this morning. That’s all for now though, have a great day

  • Infinico Metals Corp announces geophysical survey and drill program at Nicobi Project in Quebec
Infinico Metals Corp CEO Sam Walding joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share significant developments related to the company's Nicobi Project, located approximately 160 kilometers northeast of Val d’Or, Québec.
Infinico Metals Corp has announced an extensive work program for the Nicobi Project, which includes plans for a Fixed Loop geophysical survey. This survey is expected to provide valuable insights into the mineralized intrusion, enhancing the company's understanding of known mineralization and helping define targets at depth. These insights will be instrumental in preparing for the company's 2024 drill program.
Additionally, Infinico Metals Corp is planning a diamond drilling program that will encompass approximately 1,000 meters. The primary objectives of this drilling program are to confirm historic grades and drill intersects, expand the footprint of known mineralization, and commence testing the depth extent of the mineralized intrusion. Importantly, this phase of drilling is fully permitted, with access trails and site preparation already completed.
These initiatives highlight Infinico Metals Corp's commitment to advancing exploration and development at the Nicobi Project, which holds significant potential for valuable mineral resources. The company's comprehensive work program and drilling efforts are key steps in unlocking this potential and contributing to the growth of the mining industry in Québec.

Greatland Gold PLC (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF) managing director Shaun Day speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after the mining development and exploration company announced that it has identified another potential anomaly from the latest drilling and geophysical results at Scallywag, adjacent to its Havieron development in Paterson, Western Australia..
Magnetic tests highlighted the conductor at depth within a syncline fold structure along the mineralised trend from Havieron.
The key highlight, according to Day, was the electromagnetic (EM) survey, revealing significant targets for future exploration. This ground-based survey pinpointed potential sources of gold and copper, setting the stage for high-priority targeting in 2024.
Beyond Scallywag, Day emphasises Greatland Gold's ongoing commitment to other projects. The company anticipates releasing an MRE update within the current quarter, reflecting collaboration with their joint venture partner and independent reviews. Additionally, Day mentions recent drilling in the Ernest Giles area, with assay results expected in early 2024.

hVIVO PLC (AIM:HVO) chief executive Mo Khan speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive after the specialist contract research organisation announced it has signed a £16.8mln full-service human challenge contract with a top-five global pharmaceutical company.
Khan explains that the contract focuses on a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) strain. The project includes manufacturing and dosing steps, aiming to confirm the infectivity rate. He says the majority of the revenue from this project will be recognised in 2024 and 2025.

  • FTSE 100 up, Entain boss out - Market Report
Good morning from London where the big stories so far today are about the macro picture – fresh ONS data shows the UK economy contracted by 0.3% in October which was hardly a surprise given where interest rates are.
And they’re expected to stay where they are for at least another month when the Bank announces its decision tomorrow afternoon. The base rate is currently 5.25%.
The other big story this morning comes from Bloomberg who say the Walgreens Boots Alliance is dusting off plans to rid itself of the Boots part, potentially by listing it here in London. Walgreens is currently in cost-cutting mode and has brought in new chief executive Tim Wentworth to attempt to turn around the business. The optimism being generated by the idea of Boots returning to the London Stock Exchange tells you everything you need to know about what kind of year its been here in the capital.
One last thing from the FTSE 100 and Ladbrokes-owner Entain ’s chief executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen has resigned from her position with immediate effect, the betting big cap disclosed on Wednesday. Growth has failed to meet expectations.
Finally in small caps now and oil and gas investing company Reabold Resources have announced they’ll be having a general meeting early next year at which some disgruntled shareholders will be proposing a number of motions hostile to the current management. That current management will be visiting me here at the London studio next week to give me their reaction.
