First off, we have a little bit of housekeeping to clear up an error we made last episode (thank you to our listener for calling us out on being full of shit) and then we get right on into the episode where we have our good friend Brian Heller on the show.
We ask him to tell us something problematic, which opens up a great conversation about art (specifically art that is meant to be consumed) and whether or not it is helpful to have criticism of that art so readily available. And also, is it really so great that fans of television shows and movies can so easily put their opinions about what they think the show/movie should be out there for others to see? Should the creators of these pieces of entertainment art pay attention to those fans through so-called fan-service? Can a show or movie even be considered art any more if they're just giving the fans what they are asking for? Do fans even know what they really want? We ask the big questions on this podcast.
Then we talk Star Wars (mostly Rogue One and The Last Jedi, but with a little bit of the other episodes thrown in there for good measure), Game of Thrones, and the PROBLEMATIC anti-social tendencies inherent to Netflix's way of releasing shows.
Then Brian tells us about how he ran* the NYC Marathon and just how freaking difficult it is to become the guy that wakes up at 5:00 in the morning to go running. We probably could have gone on for another hour, but Brian had a bus to catch, so we cut it short.
Enjoy the episode and thanks for listening!
