Wednesday night in Dallas, at the GOP's "Trump-a-Palooza" midterm convention, Senator Tim Scott screamed his way through a speech that split the room exactly the way it was built to β a standing ovation from delegates, "meltdown" from liberal commentators, "proof of bigotry" from conservative ones. Almost nobody named what was actually happening: a performance this country has been watching in one form or another since before the Civil War.
Don and Daysha break down what Scott actually said β the unsubstantiated "panders with terrorists" charge against a Muslim opponent, the arms-out "we know who God is, we're talking about Jesus" moment β and put it next to Al Sharpton's live, on-air diagnosis: "overcompensation... you would only do that if you were in fear." Then they trace that mechanism straight back to Malcolm X's 1963 "Message to the Grassroots" and its house Negro / field Negro framework, answer the Fox News "racial gatekeeping" counter-argument head-on, and widen the lens to the Black Church's own hierarchy and methodology β landing on the episode's core message: we are Source, and the real work is going within, not performing for permission that was never required.
Notice the pattern. Interrupt it.

They edited the Bible.
In 1807, a version of the Bible was printed specifically to hand to enslaved people β with the Exodus story cut out and "slaves, obey your masters" left in. That wasn't an accident. It was engineering. In this episode, Don and Daysha trace the documented history of how a controlled version of Christianity was built to produce obedience β and how Black Americans immediately turned that same book into a language of liberation the moment they could read it for themselves.
But there's one chain from that system that never fully came off: the habit of looking outside yourself β to an authority, a savior, a pastor β for permission, for rescue, for the final word on what's true. This episode names it, and makes the case for why going within to Source is the last chain left to break.
If this episode hits home, Don unpacks this same journey β walking away from institutional religion and finding something more real underneath it β in his book, "Leaving Church and Finding God." Grab your copy here: [https://mrdonjackson.com/]

There's a claim moving through every timeline right now: everything you were taught about Jesus is only the surface, and underneath the religion is a hidden teaching about consciousness itself. Don and Daysha go in on it β the Prodigal way: gut-punching AND factual, because a real idea doesn't need a fake history to back it up.
In this episode:
What's actually real in the claim β Elaine Pagels and the Gnostic Gospels get their due, and why "inner knowing over doctrine" isn't nothing.
The cherry pick gets called out β mainstream historical-Jesus scholarship actually leans toward Jesus as a Jewish apocalyptic prophet, not a quiet consciousness teacher. That's a real scholarly debate being hidden from you.
The translation trick β "the kingdom of God is within you" isn't the settled, literal claim it's presented as. The Greek is genuinely disputed among scholars.
The science oversell β mirror neurons get corrected, same as the quantum physics claim did last episode. We don't need to steal science's credibility to make a spiritual point.
The real find β Egypt's Desert Fathers, led by Anthony the Great, the actual historical architects of Christian contemplative mysticism. African hands built this discipline a thousand years before anybody put a subscribe button under it.
The Actualization β tying back to Episode 5's Ashay and "We've Always Been Source." Remembering the root doesn't replace the discipline.

You woke up already defeated today β same tightness in your chest, same bill you haven't opened. That's not reality. That's old weather. And somebody figured out how to sell that feeling right back to you for $27.99 a month.
This episode, Don and Daysha go deep into the manifestation and "law of assumption" content flooding your feed right now β Neville Goddard, the quantum physics claims, all of it β the Prodigal way: gut-punching AND factual, because a lie doesn't stop being a lie just because it makes you feel good.
In this episode:
Who Neville Goddard actually was β the real, documented biography behind the man everybody's quoting like scripture, and the 180-year-old New Thought tradition his teaching sits inside.
The quantum physics claim gets corrected β "consciousness creates your reality" is a popular misreading of real science, and actual physicists reject it. We break down why.
The older truth nobody's selling you β Yoruba cosmology's concept of ΓαΉ£αΊΉ, a creative life-force carried through the spoken word, predating this whole manifestation industry by centuries. It was never marketed. It was lived, inherited, and targeted for erasure.
Notice the pattern, even here β why a 41-minute "wake up" video always ends the same place: a pitch. Same machine this show has been naming all season.
The Actualization β because remembering isn't the finish line. Speak it, feel it, then go build the thing it was pointing you toward.
We've always been Source. That's not a metaphor. It's a memory with a name β and it was already ours.

The Black church built the biggest, most consistent gathering of people in this country's history β tens of thousands of congregations, tens of millions of members, over a hundred years of Sundays. So why hasn't that turned into a think tank, a school network, a bank, a legal defense fund that's still standing generations later? On this episode of Prodigal, Don and Daysha lay it next to the receipts: the Heritage Foundation, founded in 1973, still writing the policy that becomes Project 2025 over fifty years later. Turning Point USA, placing chapters in over a thousand high schools and getting fifty-four thousand new inquiries in days after founder Charlie Kirk's death. Then they turn the mirror around β on the pulpit that'll spend forty-five minutes on somebody's sexuality and four seconds on a man getting shot in the street. This isn't a "burn it down" episode. It's a "wake up" episode β about remembering we were always Source, actualizing the feminine power that held communities together long before anybody's colonizer showed up, and turning the vision into the actual, practical work. On one accord.

They tell you there's a crisis. They tell you they're the only ones who can fix it. Then they tell you what it costs to be one of the ones they actually fix it for. In this episode, Don and Daysha trace a pattern that runs from an 1894 company town in Pullman, Illinois straight through to 2025 and 2026 β five sectors, one mechanism: pressure applied broadly, relief handed out selectively to whoever pays, pledges, or falls in line. What's inside this episode: The media settlements β Paramount, Disney/ABC, Meta, and YouTube pay a combined ~$90 million to settle lawsuits, one landing right before a multi-billion-dollar merger clears federal review. The law firm deals β executive orders target firms for who they represented, and the firms that pay up in "donated" services get the orders lifted while the ones who fight it out in court are still fighting. The university split β one complies and keeps its funding flowing, one refuses, gets billions frozen, sues, and wins in court β but only after months of disruption. The tariff exemption β a $600 billion investment pledge buys a full exemption from a 100% tariff, while an entire industry without that kind of leverage gets no equivalent deal at all. In this episode, Don Jackson and Daysha Voss trace the line from the Doctrine of Discovery straight through to today: the real science behind human origins in Africa, how "race" became an administrative fiction used to sort and control people who were never that separate to begin with, and how the same extraction machine that ran on papal blessing in the 1400s now runs on tax law and a trillion-dollar wealth gap.

The national debt just crossed $40 trillion. Millions have already lost SNAP benefits. Tariffs are hitting grocery bills. And while all of that's happening, wealth is concentrating at a pace this country hasn't seen since the Gilded Age.
In this episode, Don Jackson and Daysha Voss trace the throughline β from 1492 to Flock cameras and Palantir's ImmigrationOS β and ask whether what's happening now is really new, or just the same playbook running on new hardware. Daysha pushes back where the numbers get oversold. Don makes the case for something he's calling the Commonwealth Correction β a way to talk about fixing the imbalance without the one word that stops every conversation before it starts.

ποΈ Prodigal: The Podcast β Notice the Pattern
Prodigal: The Podcast explores the patterns hiding underneath religion, politics, power, and culture β and asks what it actually costs usβ¦
Hosted by Don Jackson and Daysha Voss, the show pairs honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversation with real reporting β tracing the same institutional playbooks across faith, government, money, and technology, from ancient history to this week's headlines.
Inspired in part by Don Jackson's upcoming book, Prodigal: Leaving Church and Finding God, the podcast grew out of questions about religious institutions and belief β and has widened into something bigger: a regular look at how power holds onto itself, whoever's holding it and whatever century it is.
Prodigal: The Podcast is part of a larger ecosystem built around the same idea. Prodigal Breaking News covers the pattern as it happens, day to day. Prodigal AI companion guides turn each story into something to actually sit with. And the podcast is where it all gets talked through out loud, unscripted, between two people who don't always agree.
What You'll Hear on Prodigal
Religion, Deconstruction & Institutional Power
What happens when people question inherited belief systems, and how religious structures shape politics and public life.
Power, Money & the Machinery of Control
From colonial history to national debt, surveillance, and who actually benefits when a system says it's protecting you.
Healing From Religious and Institutional Trauma
Conversations about recovering from toxic theology, broken systems, and reclaiming personal agency.
Philosophy, Psychology & Consciousness
Deeper questions about meaning, identity, and why people believe what they believe.
Real Stories of Transformation
Personal journeys through faith crisis, institutional betrayal, and coming out the other side clearer.
Who This Podcast Is For
Prodigal is for listeners who are:
Whether you're navigating a faith transition, trying to make sense of the news, or just tired of conversations that flatten everything into a side, Prodigal offers a place to actually think it through.
About the Hosts
Don Jackson is the founder of the Prodigal Movement, a platform examining spirituality, psychology, power, and cultural transformation. His work traces how belief systems β religious, political, and economic β shape identity, institutions, and collective consciousness. His upcoming book, Prodigal: Leaving Church and Finding God, explores his own journey out of institutional religion.
Daysha Voss is the show's co-host β the second voice in the room, there to push back before an idea hardens into certainty. She doesn't always read a pattern the same way Don does, and that's on purpose: the show works because two people are actually working something out, not performing agreement for an audience.
