Productive Conversations with Matt Brown episodes

  • Stephen Kazalunas

Let me tell you something… bright young man is an understatement for the great Stephen Kazalunas, but yet, he PERFECTLY embodies that role. When he said he would come on the show, I was thrilled and after speaking with him, I realized how incredible this man is. Whether as an engineer or as a content creator (I hope he has a podcast someday), Stephen is going to be a hall of famer at anything he does. With great stories, opinions, and incredible vibes, my buddy Kaz has created one of the most insightful appearances yet. This is a great show! We talk about Fantasy football, Sports Fandoms, Why baseball needs to be cool again, and the current state of ESPN and all Sports Media. We also talk about Barstool, how its actually a good sports media outlet, a more honest chat about being in a fraternity and the life lessons we learned in greek life. We also talk about BEER, AMBITION, and much, much more… (4:10)

    - How is the great Stephen Kazalunas doing as we begin the show? (5:24)
    - FANTASY FOOTBALL. We talk about how our Fantasy teams are doing and what players are making us happy and what players are disappointing us for the ultimate fantasy bragging rights? (6:31)
    - Kaz tells Matt on how he became a Broncos fan while living in CT. We get into his fandom and the highs and lows he has had as a Broncos fan (16:56)
    - Why do Sports Matter to people? Matt and Kaz discuss why sports fans put so much emotion into their teams (24:24)
    - BE LOYAL TO YOUR TEAMS: Kaz and I talk about sticking by your favorite teams through thick and thin and why it is important to be loyal to your teams. (27:28)
    - SPORTS HATE: Kaz and Matt talk about the teams and personalities they sports hate. Fun fact, they both sports hate at least one or more of each others teams, but they both sports hate this one particular baseball team that rhymes with "last rows". (30:31)
    - BASEBALL: Kaz and Matt have an honest discussion about baseball. They talk about what is going on in the sport, what we we fear about the future of the game and what we hope to see get changed about the game for years to come. (33:56)
    - Matt and Kaz then go down memory lane and talk about the best baseball games they ever attended (1:01:40)
    - Kaz and Matt then get honest about ESPN and all the mainstream Sports News outlets. We also talk about specific sports media personalities such as Stephen A. Smith, Colin Cowherd, Mike Francesa, and SVP. (1:20:20)
    - BARSTOOL SPORTS: Kaz and Matt discuss how Barstool Sports is a legitimate sports news/media outlet. (1:38:59)
    - Kaz and Matt then get more honest about fraternity life. As both are brothers of the Theta Chi fraternity, they talk about meeting at a rush event and what are the more life lessons they learned from being in greek life, rather than just constantly partying. They also chat about what they miss about it. (1:43:29)
    - We then talk about AMBITION and what you have to do to STAND OUT (2:02:16)
    - BEER! Kaz and Matt talk about Beer! (2:19:24)

  • Bryan Schwartz

It is simple, this is an important episode. Why? Because I am talking to a true professional. Some say this may even be my first celebrity interview, and why not go big with WHSV’s Weekend Sports Anchor and Reporter, Bryan Schwartz. I want to be clear, this guy is going places, he’s done amazing work in his early career as a sports journalist and anchor. With that, we will see him be a household name in the future and it was nothing but an honor to have him come on my show. We talked about how he went from college student journalist, to sports anchor at an ABC affiliate. We talk about how he views the term “fake news”. We chat about his time interning at the legendary WFAN radio station in New York City. We also get really honest on the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders, PGA, and much, much more. We also talk about his other hobbies besides sports. This is a great one! I am very proud of it. (2:42)

    - How did Bryan go from student reporter at Quinnipiac University  to professional journalist and sports anchor at WHSV, an ABC Affiliate in Virginia? (3:50)
    - What does Bryan do to prepare himself to go on the air? He also talks about the first time he went on air (8:09)
    - How does Bryan prepare for a news story compared to a sports story? (10:04)
    - We then talk about fake news. As a professional journalist, how does Bryan look at the "Fake News” phenomenon? (15:32)
    - Bryan tells me about the good old days Interning and working at WFAN, New York’s flagship sports radio station. We also chat about the future of radio. (23:40)
    - Bryan then tells me his ultimate goals, aspirations, and what is his dream job? (30:39)
    - What is the most interesting topic in sports right now according to Bryan? (33:04)
    - Bryan and I then get in an honest conversation about baseball. We chat about the Mets, the Yankees, and Baseball Analytics (34:37)
    - ARE YOU READY TO TALK FOOTBALL!?! Because Bryan and I sure did. We talk about the Jets, the Giants, and what we want to hope to see with those two franchises (48:35)
    - We then give our Super Bowl predictions as of November 2020 (55:59)
    - Lets talk NBA. Bryan and I talk about the Knicks and the Nets. Are the Nets going to be worth the hype? Will the Knicks finally see their day and be contenders again? (1:01:15)
    - It is time to talk golf and the PGA. We chat about all the new rising stars in the great game of Golf, the living legends that are still keeping up with the young guys, and we talk about the sports exciting future (1:10:12)
    - We then briefly touch on the UFC (1:12:54)
    - We can’t forget hockey! We talk about the Islanders and Rangers and what a time it is to be a hockey fan. (1:14:03)
As we can see, sports are Bryan’s ultimate interest, but what does he like to do besides sports? (1:15:58)
