Managing Progress and Accountability is one of the ICF's 11 Core Competencies.

A Coach can't MAKE a client be accountable, yet it is important for the coach to create an environment of accountability. This is done while being detached from the outcome of whether the client will take responsibility or not -- and without any judgment on the coach's part. It is also important to consider the direct connection to how the coach feels about being 'held accountable'.
