  • Making Money Work - Jackson Millan
Jackson Millan is the co-founder, CEO, and Head of Strategy of Aureus Financial, an organization dedicated to working with service-based businesses to remove cash flow bottlenecks and turn their business profit into personal wealth. He also highlights the importance of building a war chest for your business and home and provides steps financial advisors can take to build wealth while focusing on growing their businesses. “If you love what you do and do it in a capacity where money is no longer the primary driver, it changes the game.” - Jackson Millan This week on Profit for Coaches: ●     Thinking about wealth creation in the long-term and the short-term●     Why most of the strategies and philosophies around wealth creation don’t work●     The three fundamentals of creating wealth●     What coaches can do in the new year to build their wealth while focusing on their businesses●     The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Resources Mentioned: ●     Wealth Health Check Scorecard (https://www.wealthhealthcheck.com.au/optin1649826932327) Our Favorite Quotes: ●     “Asset allocation is what contributes to asset performance.” - Jackson Millan●     “Stop looking to time the market. • A Stupid Promise
Many coaches aren’t in it for just the money. They pursue coaching as a career because they want to make an impact. They want to impact people’s lives, help their communities, and drive real change in the world. However, not many coaches understand that the impact they want to make on the world is fundamentally dependent on the profit that they make for their business. Profit doesn’t just mean money—it could mean all the things you can do with money: driving transformation in people’s lives, creating change, and making an impact. Profit supports you, your mission, and your purpose. In this episode, I highlight the importance of generating profit for your coaching business. I explain how profit can help you make a change in the lives of the people you want to serve. I discuss the value of simplifying a business and the characteristics you need to look for in a coach if you decide to work with one. I also underscore the importance of having a cash flow management system for your coaching practice and share some action points you can do today to start making your business profitable. “You do yourself, your family, friends, clients, community, and everybody you care about a disservice if you continue to allow your coaching business to not make money.” - Jos Willard This week on Profit for Coaches: ●     Different kinds of profit and how they sustain your purpose as a coach●     The importance of installing a cash flow management system and cash flow●     Why you need to be able to simplify your business●     What to do if quitting isn’t an option for you●     The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Resources Mentioned: ●     Book: Profit First: Transform Your Business from a Cash-Eating Monster to a Money-Making Machine by Mike Michalowicz Our Favorite Quotes: ●     “Find a coach who can help you simplify your business, get focused on one thing, solve one problem, and make a ton of money doing—then build your business out.” - Jos Willard●     “If the idea of quitting disappoints you, you know well that having your own coaching business is what you’re meant to do.” - Jos Willard●     “You need to focus, to have a plan and system in place that manages your cash flow. • Talking to Myself
Some time ago, I realized I wanted to shift my focus toward helping coaches where I was seven years ago—around the $150,000 a year mark and aiming to earn half a million dollars a year. I wanted to help people build profitable coaching businesses on their own schedules without their businesses ruining their lives. And while that idea resonates with many people, I struggled with translating it into a message that invited them to work with me. Then, my coach said something that struck my interest: “If you were talking to your past self, what would you have wanted to hear? What would have made you say, ‘Yes, I’m going to do it!’”? In this episode, I share what coaches could have said or done to inspire me to take action. I explain why I distrusted the “coaches’ coaches” industry and what it took me to work with a coach finally. I discuss why I put a premium on coaches who build relationships and highlight why it’s important to avoid “cloning” yourself when working with clients. I also describe why there’s no single way to build a thriving coaching business and reveal your most impactful, unique selling proposition as a coach. “If you’re helping clients work through an experience you struggled with, don’t tell them there’s only one way to do it—going through the same challenges doesn’t mean they’re the same person you were.” - Jos Willard This week on Profit for Coaches: ●     Why it took a lot for me to trust coaches who coach other coaches●     The two types of coaches for coaches●     The importance of building trust and relationships●     Why there’s no one true way to build a profitable coaching practice●     The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Our Favorite Quotes: ●     “You can’t just copy and paste somebody else’s system and expect it to work for your business, especially when it comes to marketing and your voice.” - Jos Willard●     “You are your unique selling proposition. The way you show up—your persona, your voice, the way you interpret and deliver things—is your unique selling proposition.” - Jos Willard●     “There’s no one way to differentiate what matters other than how you show up and interact with your clients. YOU are the difference.” - Jos Willard Helping Coaches Increase Profits Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Profit for Coaches. Love the podcast? • Stripping
Over the last few months, I’ve been doing a lot of work on my coaching business. While I fully expect to continue making changes in my business through the end of 2022 and likely through Q1 of 2023, I’ve noticed a common theme among these changes. This theme has appeared in every aspect of my business that I’ve worked on. I’m seeing it come up when I help other coaches improve their businesses. This common theme is complication. This week, I explore coaches’ proclivity toward overcomplicating their businesses. I discuss why broadening your marketing to achieve your monthly revenue goals isn't always necessary. I also explain how stripping down your coaching practice can help you feel less stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt out while giving you the jolt of energy you need to continue coaching and increase your monthly revenue.  “The secret is to simplify.” - Jos Willard This week on Profit for Coaches: ●      The biggest challenge for coaching businesses●      Why broadening your marketing isn’t always the key to success●      The value of stripping away unnecessary aspects of your coaching business●      Why simplicity is the key to reducing stress and increasing your monthly revenue●      The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Our Favorite Quotes: ●      “The biggest problem—the biggest challenge—that is showing up in businesses is complication.” - Jos Willard●      “The more we try to broaden our marketing, the more moving parts we have in our business—the more complicated it gets.” - Jos Willard●      “I believe that you have a destiny on this Earth that is well beyond anything you can imagine. • Get Some Help
Recently, I came to a colleague with a problem I had been struggling with for over 10 months. I showed him a few things on a screen share, and he solved the problem in less than 10 minutes. The thing is, my colleague told me nothing I wouldn’t have known; it was something I could have come up with and told a client myself. The problem with being a professional coach is that we get so used to being the expert that, faced with our own problems, we forget that asking for help is beneficial and the key decision to make when we’re struggling. In this episode, I discuss the professional coach’s conundrum and why seeking outside help is critical to a coaching practice. I describe coaches’ tendency to avoid asking for help when they don’t know how to improve an aspect of their practice and explain how that avoidance can later hurt their business. I also highlight the value of investing time, money, and effort into a community of experts and underscore the need to eliminate stressors in a business before the year closes. “We’re not experts in everything. When you’re in a situation where you’re not sure what to do, go get some help instead of trying to brute-force your way through the problem.” - Jos Willard This week on Profit for Coaches: ●     The professional coach’s conundrum and the value of getting help●     How avoiding asking for help can hurt your business●     Investing time, money, and energy to access a network or community of experts●     How asking for support can help you achieve your business goals before 2022 ends●     The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Our Favorite Quotes: ●     “Going into this last quarter of the year, you need to get rid of as much frustration as possible.
