  • Summertime Daydreams
August—for us people in the northern hemisphere, it’s the last full month of summer where we get to enjoy the warmth and some time off. It’s also the month when many of us start getting the blues. Vacation season is almost over, and we have to get back to work. But, for us coaches and consultants, it’s one of the best months to plan and daydream about how we can improve our coaching practice and prepare for one of the best seasons for the industry. In this episode, I discuss daydreaming and imagining how you can improve your coaching practice and business. I also explain why people get anxious around August and why fall is the best season for coaches.“Relax; get yourself a notebook; give yourself permission to daydream and write things down. Find one thing you can get into so, as you get into September, life looks a little bit better.” - Jos WillardThis week on Profit for Coaches:●      Why Fall is the best time to sell coaching and transformation●      Thinking about the changes you want to implement in your coaching practice●      The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Our Favorite Quotes:●      “For coaches and consultants, September, October, and November are some of the best months; it’s the beginning of a new season, and people are ready to make changes.” - Jos Willard●      “There's an opportunity coming up in the fall; be prepared for that opportunity. • Keeping Score
If you’re playing or watching a sport, you know your team is winning by looking at the scoreboard. But how do you know you’re winning in the game of business and life? Some will say you’re winning in the coaching industry if you’re making a certain amount of money. Money is great, but having a profitable coaching practice isn’t just about money—it’s also about freedom, flexibility, and independence. In this episode, I discuss how you can keep score and measure performance in a way that matters to you and your coaching practice. • Independence
Are you supporting your business or is it supporting you? Do you have to show up every single day to keep it alive? Do you find yourself having to say no to family, friends, and the things that matter to you just to keep your coaching business running? I guarantee that you don’t have to sacrifice everything to have a profitable coaching practice: you can build your coaching business so it helps you have the freedom and independence you need.In today’s episode, I discuss independence, what it means to me, and how you can set your coaching practice so that it and you can remain independent. I differentiate independence and freedom and explain why grinding and hustling 24/7 is not healthy. I also define true financial independence and discuss how to think about the next steps to get there.“When you‘re in a position where you feel like you have to invest time, energy, and money in your business or else it’s going to fail, that’s not independence.” - Jos WillardThis week on Profit for Coaches:●      What it means to be free and independent as a coach●      Why you don’t have to sacrifice everything to have a successful practice●      Achieving financial independence for your business●      Your next steps toward freedom and financial independence●      The FREE profitable practice scorecard! Our Favorite Quotes:●      “I don’t believe that a successful coaching practice requires you to grind, hustle, or be at work 24/7, 365—it’s not healthy to give everything you have to build a business.” - Jos Willard●      “Our goal is to put in a significant amount of effort strategically, intelligently, and tactically so that everything we invest in our coaching practice—time, money, energy, and attention—gets a return on investment.” - Jos Willard●      “Build a practice that allows you to make decisions based on values rather than the constraints of time, your bank account, and the expectations of others.” - Jos WillardHelping Coaches Increase ProfitsThanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Profit for Coaches. • Structure and Focus
To have a successful, sustainable, and profitable coaching practice, you need to deliver impactful change and results for your clients—otherwise, you’re not coaching. Too many coaches get distracted by the minutiae of running a business, so much so that it becomes difficult for them to be present with their coaching clients. How do you structure your business so you can focus on showing up for the people that matter? In this episode, I discuss what it takes to transform the lives of your clients. I explain how being productive for productivity’s sake burns out coaches and business owners. I also recap the four must-haves of profitable coaching practices, describe how they all support a coach in delivering transformational results, and reveal the key to having an effective content delivery structure.“Build your practice so that it serves you—so that you can serve the people you’re meant to serve: your clients, family, community, and yourself.” - Jos WillardThis week on Profit for Coaches:●      The importance of having a content delivery structure and transformational focus●      The key to having an effective content delivery structure●      How coaches and business owners burn out●      Why most of us got into coaching●      The FREE eBook you can access today! Our Favorite Quotes:●      “We don’t control the client, but we do have the responsibility to show up in a way that gives them every possibility to be successful.” - Jos Willard●      “Delivery isn’t just about delivering when you’re facing your client; it’s about being effective at what you do and how you show up as an advisor, consultant, or coach.” - Jos Willard●      “If we focus on the transformation we help create in their lives, we become a lot more successful for our clients.” - Jos WillardHelping Coaches Increase Profits Thanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Profit for Coaches. • Clients and Cash
When seeking steps for starting a profitable coaching business, some may tell you to have a platform to coach on first. Others will tell you to start with a purpose or a why. These are important parts of creating a coaching practice; however, designing your client creation or client acquisition strategies first and figuring out your cash flow management system can be powerful ways to jumpstart your coaching practice. In this episode, I discuss creating cash through client acquisition and managing your cash flow. I explain why doing free coaching sessions in the hopes of spreading word-of-mouth is not a reliable or scalable client creation tactic. I discuss what profit is and why you need to earn money above and beyond your business’s expenses. I also describe what makes an effective cash flow management system and underscore how effectively managing your cash flow can improve the way you coach clients.“Your client acquisition system needs to be built so that as long as you put in the right inputs—effort, time, or money—the right way consistently, you get the right results consistently.” - Jos WillardThis week on Profit for Coaches:●      The value of setting up a client acquisition process first●      Why you need to focus on working with your ideal clients only●      Building your cash flow management system●      How effectively managing cash flow can impact your coaching●      The FREE eBook you can access today!Resources Mentioned:●      Book: The Prosperous Coach: Increase Income and Impact for You and Your Clients by Steve Chandler●      Book: Book Yourself Solid: The Fastest, Easiest, and Most Reliable System for Getting More Clients Than You Can Handle Even if You Hate Marketing and Selling by Michael Port●      Book: Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon SinekOur Favorite Quotes:●      “Profit is the creation of stability in any business. • The Four Must Haves Revisited
Having a profitable coaching practice can look different for everyone. To some, it’s about taking on a certain number of clients. To others, it means earning six or seven figures in revenue every year. To me, having a profitable coaching practice means having a business that pays you well and allows you flexibility. • Who is Your Barney
Have you met Barney? I don’t watch TV anymore, but back when I did, every now and again, I’d catch episodes of How I Met Your Mother. One of the characters, Barney—brilliantly played by Neil Patrick Harris—is the wingman to the main character, Ted. And, as wingman, Barney would keep introducing Ted to people who could potentially end up as the love of his life. Looking back at the interactions between these two, I realized something: we all need a Barney in our business lives. In this episode, I discuss finding your “Business Barney” and how they can impact your coaching practice. I explain the value of having a strategic business partner. I also underscore why, as you grow your business to six figures, you may want to consider outsourcing tasks and discuss where and how to look for your Barney.“Find someone who is so invested in your success, they’re willing to take steps that you find uncomfortable.” - Jos WillardThis week on Profit for Coaches:●      Your “Business Barney” and how they can impact your business●      The value of finding a strategic business partner●      Outsourcing the tasks you don’t like and the power of collaboration●      Where and how to find your Business Barney●      The FREE eBook you can access today!Resources Mentioned:●      Book: Who, Not How: The Formula to Achieve Bigger Goals Through Accelerating Teamwork by Dan SullivanOur Favorite Quotes:●      “Have a Business Barney in your business life—someone who is not only able to, not only willing to, but is also enthusiastic about introducing you to the right person.” - Jos Willard●      “If you find it difficult to do marketing or sales activities, you need to find a Barney—someone who’d say ‘have you met Ted?’” - Jos Willard●      “Instead of attempting a task you don’t like, try looking for somebody who has the strengths, skill sets, interests, and energy for those tasks and get them to help you.” - Jos Willard Helping Coaches Increase ProfitsThanks for tuning into this week’s episode of Profit for Coaches. The world changes all the time. As coaches, we certainly hope that this is true–after all, we specialize in transformation and change. We often have the tools to help people make change, but how are we at handling change ourselves? What tools do we have as coaches to manage the changes that happen in our practices? In this episode, I discuss change and the different ways to handle it. I describe how I respond whenever I get overwhelmed by change. I enumerate the steps to take when you do not agree with a change someone else has made.
