The Guardian just completed a nine-month investigation of the drinking water systems in the USA. As it turns out, Flint is not the only community that is being systematically poisoned. This Guardian investigation has identified multiple poisonous substances in our drinking water, including arsenic, pfas from plastics, and lead. This report will be the first installment in several more to come as the evidence of govenrmental malfeasance surfaces.

This week on EJR, I will be discussing the Mackinac Center in all of its glorious hypocrisy. As you recall, the Mackinac Center is an alleged non-profit think tank funded by multiple conservative billionaires, with the lion's share coming from the DeVos family. Mackinac is adamantly anti-union, anti-democracy and pro-corporate. This time, the alleged scholars at Mackinac are screaming foul over some FOIA requests that weren't answered as quickly as Mackinac demanded. The FOIA requests pertain to the ongoing Flint water case. 

In this discussion, I will cover the requests from Mackinac in light of the fact that the Emergency Manager Law in Michigan, passed by GOP governor Rick Snyder was based on a template pushed by the Mackinac Center. While blood is on Mackinac's corporate think tank metaphorical hands; they continue to scream foul. I will revisit the Emergency Manager Law in Michigan, its' repeal, and Snyder's overwritten version, (aided and abetted by a GOP legislature); that led to the series of events which poisoned the people of Flint, and especially the children of Flint.

The Trump EPA invited companies to revise the pollution records of a now known potent carcinogen. The chemical that was essentially rewritten by corporate entities is called ethylene oxide. It is used to sterilize medical equipment. Not only did this action by the same Trump EPA , (run by former chemical industry executives), allow the very industry which sells ethylene oxide to rewrite the records which monitor existing levels; but it poses a new low for Trump. This is basically--falsifying records to protect specific industries. There is no legitimate excuse for this criminal action.

This week on EJR, I will talk about the ever increasing criminalization of dissent here in the United States. Specifically, I will be focusing on how this criminalization has targeted the intersectional nature of environmental justice, racial justice, and the demand for accountability and transparency. It is no secret that the billionaire class controls everything,(including the courts), with impunity.
