Leslie is joined by Sean O'Brien, General President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

They begin the interview by acknowledging the accomplishments that President O'Brien and General Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman have helped their Union to achieve during their three years heading the organization.

With 80,000 new members organized, great successes at the negotiating table including many of their best contracts ever like at UPS and Anheuser-Busch, an empowered rank-and-file membership that has waged over 250 strikes and led bargaining themselves against some of the world’s largest employers, the O’Brien-Zuckerman administration has charted one of the most defining and positive chapters in Teamsters history.

Next, Sean shares with the audience the Union's contract campaign with their 10,000 Teamsters aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs). They're fighting for a fair contract with United, who raked in over $4 billion dollars in profits last year, but is lowballing the Teamsters at the bargaining table.

At the same time, the airline wants to outsource maintenance to communist China and South America.

Sean explains how United Airlines Teamsters are ensuring safety in the skies, and that Teamster members will not accept anything less than a strong new contract with the industry-leading wages and job protections they have earned.

Lastly, Leslie and Sean discuss how, following a credible strike threat, more than 1,000 newly organized drivers and warehouse workers at United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI) in Florida, Georgia, and Illinois have ratified their first Teamsters contracts.

Represented by Teamsters Locals 26, 79, 728, and 769, UNFI workers have secured agreements that deliver significant wage increases, improved benefits, and a defined benefit pension plan.

How is Ireland’s plan for single-tier, universal health care, known as Sláintecare, funded? Is it sustainable long term? What improvements has the nation’s healthcare system seen so far – and what can America learn from this?

To find out, we spoke to Dr. Sara Burke, associate professor and director of the Centre for Health Policy and Management in Trinity College Dublin’s School of Medicine. She is the Principal Investigator of a research project entitled 'Health system foundations for Sláintecare implementation in 2020 and beyond …’ and Co-Director of SPHeRE, Ireland’s national research training program for population health, policy and health services research. Her research interests include health policy, inequities in health, healthcare access and the politics of health reform. This is the second of two episodes with Dr. Burke.

The White Lotus on Max has gone and done it...they not only had a same sex couple in a three way...but the two were brothers. And they went THERE. But, historically, is the subject matter so taboo? It's an uglier fact of humanity, but it is a fact that's been around since the dawn of time. So why does NO ONE talk about it, or dramatize it, if it really happens, a lot? I know.

And, do you hate annoying group texts. Well, a reporter got put in to one...a top secret one...on the app Signal. And what was the topic? Only top secret war communications between the highest members of Government. Will anyone be fired? Probably not.

A Gay bar says no one can come inside in anything MAGA. I get it. I understand. But is this the right thing to do and where does it end? Can they wear a confederate flag shirt? I support the idea, but maybe not the practice of it. It's a very slippery slope. But...a dress code is a dress code.

The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. The pair begins their interview by discussing the bombshell report that the Secretary of Defense accidentally texted a reporter IMPENDING WAR PLANS on a non-government group chat that included the Vice President, Secretary of State, National Security Advisor and Homeland Security Advisor!...who all also replied on the thread, with none of them realizing the Reporter was on the thread, in plain sight!!!

They also examine Trump's plan to gut the Department of Education, whether his relationship with Elon Musk is becoming strained, and why the Republicans could deeply regret messing with Social Security checks.

Then, Mica Soellner, Congressional Reporter for Punchbowl News, talks about the Congressional response to the bombshell Atlantic report about the Trump administration texting a reporter war plans.

She and Brad also examine the divisions among Congressional Democrats following Senator Schumer's vote to advance the Republicans' continuing resolution.

It’s Not The People We Should Platform, It’s the Ideas

There’s a petition from Democrats to demand Gavin Newsom stop platforming extreme Right people. And I agree, we don’t need to give these people any more oxygen. But to dismiss their ideas, their arguments, or their issues prematurely, at least some of them, may be just too dismissive.

For instance. Vaccines. Are they safe, all of them? No. They are not. And I am living proof. My life has almost been ruined by the Shingrix Vaccine from GlaxoSMithKline. And thousands of others as well. But science finds that acceptable for the good of the many. But what if YOU’RE the one? Why release something that could do those things to more than 100 people total? So RFKJr has a point, he’s just obtuse and misguided.

The Department of Education. We all agree Education in the USA is broken. We charge too much to college kids to go and have an entire bureaucracy setup to handle their loans. We underpay teachers, schools have become shooting galleries. And kids are coming out of the system complete idiots. Something is wrong and reform should start on the federal level. Abolishing isn’t the answer, expanding its mandate is but we can all agree, it’s broken.

Government: There’s not one of us that thinks it has ever truly worked well. The post office is a mess, but privatizing isn’t the answer. DMV is a mess. Every government agency is overloaded an inefficient and doesn’t really serve the people well. But gutting it is not the answer. Repairing, replacing, modernizing and expanding is.

Their grievances often mirror those of the other side. The solutions is what we disagree upon.

It’s Thursday and the world is alive with news.

Israel, with the US’s Blessing, resumes its genocide in Gaza. And at this stage, let’s just call it what it is, an ethnic cleansing. Will anyone step in to help the Palestinians?

Trump wants to dismantle the US Dept of Education as part of the 2025 agenda he said he had never read. He wants the states to be in charge. Here’s the thing: congress created it, and only congress can dismantle it. Plus, we tried it with the states and that didn’t work. Would you move to poor states if you had kids? Nope. Why? Schools.

And in entertainment, from male parts causing a stir on White Lotus to a lack of shows to bond with our parents and other groups (Star Trek brought me and my dad together every week, what does that today?) entertainment is also a big ticket item this weekend.

These, and so many more headlines are whizzing past us today, we’ll take a moment and slow them down.

Jasmine Mooney did all the right things. She’s a nice 30-something Canadian working in the USA legally and traveling back and forth for work. Until ICE decided arbitrarily that she wasn’t. Suddenly a two week ordeal of hell was put upon her, and she’s one of the lucky one.
