Today's guest hosts are Brent J. Cohen and Charlotte Hancock, Executive Director and Communications Director for Generation Progress.

They discuss how, all within a month, the House and Senate are going back and forth on critical legislation that will determine Congress’s budget, the country’s spending, and will have huge ramifications for climate change, education, social safety nets, and more. Despite how in the weeds some of the specifics of the process can be, these bills will have a significant impact on all of us, and young Americans in particular may be affected by certain proposals.

To talk with Brent and Charlotte for the first half of the show about what Congress is up to this month, and what young people should be aware of, they’re joined by Madeline Shepherd, a director of government affairs at the Center for American Progress.

As Brent and Charlotte touch on briefly in the first half of the show, the free community college provision in the Congressional budget proposal is one thing that stands to greatly benefit young people, and it is something that those at Gen Progress are fighting to keep in the final version of the budget.

During the second half of the show, to talk more about why free college legislation is important, and an essential part of tackling the student debt crisis, Brent and Charlotte are joined by Cody Hounanian, the executive director of the Student Debt Crisis Center.
