The president tried to blame the recent rampages in El Paso and Dayton on mental illness and video games. We don’t have a video game problem Mr. President. We have a problem with game playing Republicans who shift the blame for repeated massacres away from the real culprit: Guns.

America also needs to crack down on domestic terrorism. Let’s be clear: There are no white nationalists. There are white supremacists pretending to love this country while trying to destroy it. We must disarm them and stop their terrorism.

Background Briefing 08-06-2019 by Progressive Voices

The guest host for today's show is Brad Bannon. Brad runs Bannon Communications Research, a polling, message development and media firm which helps labor unions, progressive issue groups and Democratic candidates win public affairs and political campaigns. His new show, 'Deadline D.C. with Brad Bannon,' airs every Monday from 3-4pm ET.

Brad is first joined by Adrian Walker, Metro Columnist for the Boston Globe. (@Adrian_Walker on Twitter)

The two discuss the El Paso and Dayton mass shootings, and what it will take to finally see some action on passing gun reforms like universal background checks and an assault weapons ban. They also touch on the NRA and its massive role in preventing common sense gun reforms in America.

During the second half of the show, Brad leads a political round table with two guests who continue the discussion on mass shootings and gun reforms. They also analyze President Trump and the Republican Party's culpability in these and other mass shootings, including how Trump's racist and xenophobic language eggs on dangerous people like the murderer in El Paso.

The two round table guests are Kimberly Scott and Mark Grimaldi. Kimberly is the Founder and Publisher of DemList, LLC, a free national daily political column, calendar and resource site for Democrats and allies - a unique, central source that connects people to the who, what and where of Democratic events, issues and activism.

You can find out more about them at DemList.com and follow them on Twitter @TheDemList.

Mark Grimaldi, or 'Marky Mark' as Leslie Marshall calls him, is the Executive Producer of this show and a Democratic Activist. His Twitter handle is @MarkJGrimaldi.

Brad writes a column every Sunday on the 2020 Presidential race for 'The Hill.' He's on the National Journal's panel of political insiders and is a national political analyst for WGN TV and Radio in Chicago.

His website is BannonCR.com and his Twitter handle is @BradBannon.
