Another week in the United States of Serfs and Lords.

Trump openly welcomes foreign interference while his filthy fascist Republican enablers continue to raid the Federal treasury like their own personal piggy bank.

Meanwhile, Trump's deliberately-created humanitarian crisis on the border is yet another disgraceful stain on the nation Republicans pretend to love.

Oh... yes... we're also being lied into another war of choice - this time in Iran.

We'll discuss another week of madness.

On the #RADIO show this week we cover how healthcare is under attack and the ways you can fight back; the fight for gun safety and Virginia; what history warns us about the current crisis in detention centers on our southern border; and serial entrepreneurs, MyVillage and childcare.

Rick Smith Show - Weekend 06-17-2019 by Progressive Voices

I'm always interested in what the US can learn from other countries so I was immediately attracted to JOSHUA GOLDSTEIN's new book A BRIGHT FUTURE: How Some Countries Have Solved Climate Change and the Rest Can Follow. When Goldstein (and co-author Staffan Qvist) did the research and the math on what it was going to take to reduce carbon emissions enough to avoid the worst of climate change, they concluded that rapid development of renewables would need a fast buildout of nuclear power to replace fossil fuels as backup for wind and solar. You may not agree with them, but I think this conversation is worth a listen.

Eye-opening new research on American attitudes toward the LGBTQ persons in our midst. Public Religion Research Institute CEO Dr. Robert P. Jones will bring us highlights, including fast-growing empathy and support for Transgender Americans.

Meanwhile, the Vatican has issued a document guiding Catholic education on Transgender persons. Short version: there’s no such thing. I’ll talk with Marianne Duddy-Burke, executive director of DignityUSA, what Copernicus would say.

And the Let My People Go Conference to End Mass Incarceration at Martin Luther King’s old church in Atlanta, GA. We’ll hear from Ebenezer Baptist’s senior pastor, Raphael Warnock.

Yesterday we had some fun with cakes, and then, someone in The Lakes in Las Vegas goes and does this…and it illustrates exactly the point I was trying to make. In today's America, hatred, bigotry, it's not reviled, it's revered.

Taylor Swift's new "gay anthem" sets Karel off as does the Supreme Court ruling on baking them. So, he makes one.
