Today I'm joined by Nate McMurray, the endorsed Democratic Candidate for New York's 27th Congressional District. Nate is running against Incumbent Republican Chris Collins, the first member of Congress to endorse Donald Trump for President and a huge cheerleader for the President and his agenda.

Here is some background on the race for New York's 27th Congressional district.

ABOUT NATE:

Nate is a husband, and the father of two sons. He's a native western New Yorker, whose family roots in the region trace back to colonial times. He's the son of a construction worker, and a mom who worked three jobs to hold their family together after his father died of cancer in his 30’s.

Nate is also an attorney, and a successful businessperson, who knows how to get things done. For the last two years, he's used that know-how serving as the Town Supervisor of Grand Island. As Supervisor he's done more than most elected officials have done in their entire career. That includes cashless tolls that clean air and save money, energy projects, conservation, infrastructure, and more.

Why does Nate do all of this? Because he does what’s right, not what’s popular. And I fight for my constituents, not for my friends or the next election.

ABOUT NATE'S OPPONENT:

Nate's opponent, Congressman Chris Collins, is a wealthy man. Growing up in North Carolina, he inherited a fortune, which he used to buy (and often sell off) struggling companies in Western New York. He’s been a County Executive (he was voted out) and now the Congressman in NY-27 for a long time.

There are currently lots of complaints against Congressman Collins: Insider trading and abuse of office to name just a couple. Congressman Collins is currently under investigation for ethics violations. The Office of Congressional Ethics states “there is a substantial reason to believe that Representative Collins took official actions that would assist a single entity in which he had a significant financial interest, in violation of federal law.”

THE RACE:

- Collins won’t debate or host town halls, Nate is pledging to be an engaged representative with his constituency.

- Collins was the first member of Congress to support Trump.

- Nate has pledged to fight for the working men and women of the 27th district rather than the Wall Street interests of Chris Collins.

- In any other news cycle, the scandals plaguing Collins (alleged self dealing) would be enough to disqualify him among voters, but because Collins has chosen a strategy of just laying low, it’s gone unnoticed by many.
