Project Hail Mary’s Rocky Puppeteer Eligible for Oscar Nom

James Ortiz, the puppeteer who brings the beloved granite-like alien "Rocky" to life in the upcoming Project Hail Mary film, is officially eligible for an Academy Award. According to current Academy rules, because puppeteering falls under SAG-AFTRA jurisdiction, his performance can legitimately be submitted for a Best Supporting Actor nomination[1]. While the Golden Globes currently do not allow voice and puppeteer work to be nominated in acting categories, Ortiz's stellar work as Ryan Gosling's co-star is still highly anticipated to make waves during Oscar season.
