The moon has been a favourite subject of many poets, painters, authors, writers, and even sculptors! Better known as the satellite of the earth, the moon has been a constant companion and a guide for the travellers traveling in the night time.
Apart from this, the moon has been also of utter importance in Indian Astronomy, Indian Astrology and is also viewed as a God by some people in India. Let's explore more about this heavenly body and understand the Indian Astronomical side of the moon.
The importance of the moon mainly was illustrated because of the Nakshatras, one of the most important concepts in Hindu Astronomy.
A Nakshatra is basically a star or a group of stars. There are 27 of them, and the moon takes days to travel from one Nakshatra to another, devoting equal time to everyone - Fair Justice !
But why does this become so important ? Well, being the earth’s satellite, the moon’s path also being elliptical, shows the path of the moon and how it goes from one nakshatra to another - quite interesting, aint it?
