Today's episode begins with my interview of Leah Lizarondo the co-Founder and CEO of 412 Food Rescue.  Her organization literally rescues food headed for landfills and sends it to shelters and groups that distribute it to people in need.

It's a wonderful idea showing how much we can accomplish if we are willing to look up for opportunities to help others. 

We follow that up with a beautiful story of kindness regarding the Tooth Fairy and then wrap up things with the story a random act of kindness from a retired vet.

This week I interview Julie Akins the founder of the Journey Home Foundation.  Julie and her team have come up with a creative, cost effective solution to not only provide housing for homeless families but also provide them with mobility.  

In this episode I'll provide evidence showing that all is not lost in regards to saving our planet.  With stories from Penn State University to President Obama to a couple replanting a forest there is plenty of proof that things are not hopeless. 

In fact things are getting BETTER in a number of areas.  You and I can help improve the planet on which we live.

Between 2000 and 2015, one billion people (one-seventh of the world’s population) escaped poverty.

The life span of the average global citizen has doubled in the past century. 

In developed countries, the proportion of government spending on social projects such as education and relief for the poor rose from under 2% at the start of the 20th century to an average of 22% today.

 Deforestation of the Amazon rainforest dropped by four-fifths between 2004 and 2013.

The world’s wealth has tripled in the past 33 years.

 From 1921 to today, US traffic accident fatalities have fallen twenty-four fold. Accidental deaths from all other causes have fallen as well.

For the world as a whole, human rights have improved over the past 70 years.

 Google searches for homophobic, racist, and misogynistic terms have decreased by at least 80% since 2004.

Despite the interruption of horrific wars, each century has been more peaceful than the one that preceded it.

 Since 1909, Intelligence Quotient (IQ) scores have been rising in all parts of the world by an average of 3 points per decade.

From 1960 through today, the American poverty rate, measured by income, has fallen by more than half.

 World carbon emissions per dollar of GDP have dropped by over 50% in the past 50 years.

Child labor, infant mortality, maternal mortality, and domestic violence have all been declining globally.

 The proportion of the world’s people without access to clean air and water has roughly halved in a decade.

The percentage of people meditating has quadrupled in the past decade.

I start today's show talking about how just saying good can change your mood and perspective for the better.

Then we hear about how smiling can also impact your overall well being. 

Finally we hear an indigenous women's take on the spirit of oneness.
