In the second episode of Prose and Bros, Dill and Taylor select a Chinese beer who's label has caught their eye many times. As a pairing, Li Qingzhao's "Drunk in the Shade of Flowers: Double Ninth Festival" takes us to historical Chinese poetry in a pairing made in...well, China!

Alongside Unter Dog (named for the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl winning season), we read a poem with an accent "Lager Beer" by Paul Laurence Dunbar. After sampling their beer and poetry, our hosts go into the modern traditions of Oktoberfest to tide you over until next year's actual festivities!

This week your favorite poetry bros get local as they talk about Peter Straub's Signature Brews Oktoberfest, an actual local brew that doesn't skirt the definition of the word. While enjoying (or at least trying) this beer, they also discuss David O'Bruadair's "A Glass of Beer" a poem that'll shock your senses and leave you laughing. Join our hosts as they also explore part three of their Oktoberfest history, the 1900's on, and take a look at Oktoberfest celebrations around the globe.

On this episode, the Oktoberfest celebration continues! Or, as Sam Adams would put it, the Octoberfest continues. That's right, Dill and Taylor are sampling Sam Adams Octoberfest and exposing the lies that have been created around this iconic brewery. As the bell tolls for the myth of the Boston Brewery, they read Edgar Allen Poe's "Lines on Ale" and discuss some of the legend surrounding this famed writer (but not about his poetry) as well as the mystery of his death and the flim flam that arose afterwards. Then they'll break down some facts about Oktoberfest from 1811-1900 and a few surprising facts about Sam Adams himself. Grab a beer, grab a poem, and enjoy the show!

On this episode, Dill and Taylor prepare for Oktoberfest by sampling the self proclaimed original Oktoberfest beer, Spaten. While getting settled into the changing season, they crack open a Rainer Maria Rilke poem with "Autumn Day" while discussing the origins of Oktoberfest, both the beer and the celebration.

On this week's episode, Taylor and Dill are going down under! With terrible Australian jokes that is. They rate Foster's and learn about why this brew may not be as "Australian for Beer" as it claims. While they're unraveling this marketing lie, they'll be discussing "Banjo" Patterson, Australia's most famous poet (if not one of the world's most famous poets) and which piece of his work you probably know by heart.

On this episode, Dill and Taylor are going to war! World War 1 that is, as they explore four poems by the poet Siegfried Sassoon across the years of 1915-1918. This flight of poems is being paired with a flight of Artisanal Brew Works Warheads inspired beer. It's a different type of episode, but one that will definitely not sour you to either the beer, or the poet.

On episode 6, Taylor and Dill get in some last minute summer relaxation. Sampling Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy, your hosts delve into the history of this Wisconsin native and how Shandy came to be. While sipping on this lemony beer, they also read Carl Sandburg's "Back Yard" and discuss why the "Chicago Poet" fits so well into a summer afternoon with a Wisconsin brew.
