In this episode, we tackle how diet affects stage 4 metastasized prostate cancer treatment. We discuss the Mediterranean diet's cancer-fighting potential, dairy's mixed effects on cancer, and the need to balance proteins. I also cover the benefits of flaxseed, a low-fat vegan diet, and antioxidant-rich foods. In this interview with my friend, Glenn, we talk about his sudden and extreme onset of prostate cancer going from an undetectable PSA to 900 in just months. Started on chemo immediately, he provides a lot of perspective on what an extreme and aggressive case of prostate cancer looks like.
I talk with a friend and co-worker who underwent a radical prostatectomy back in 2011 and now has a recurrence. My experience and initial back pain led him to get his PSA checked, revealing he may have prostate cancer again, 12 years after his prostate was removed. Though his level is only 0.4, it's high considering he doesn't have a prostate. He's facing another diagnosis of prostate cancer but is now armed with new knowledge.
I'm almost done with my prostate cancer treatment and talk about previous and current symptoms as well as future interviews and some good links to a new support group.
My brother, Keith, and I talk about my diagnosis and how it affected him, things he's changed in his life, and how he's applying this information to other areas like his back problem.
This episode is about two things... what happens after my radiation treatments are done and what do I do about my muscle loss due to the hormone therapy. Having only four treatments left to my prostate and five to my spine, it's time to start thinking about what happens after radiation treatment. It's also important to think about what kind of exercise you need to minimize muscle loss while not spiking testosterone levels. Let's talk about it.
In this episode, we talk about pre-diagnosis symptoms and symptoms that are occurring now that I'm just over 4 weeks into treatment.
This is a long one, but there's lots in here to keep you entertained.
