So many voices yapping at us … follow the SCIENCE, trust the PROCESS as well as the spin of narratives, supposed misinformation, and censoring.  WHO can be trusted??  Only ONE VOICE … the VOICE of Truth.  The Eternal ONE, GOD, is TRUTH.  It is His VOICE that the wise person will seek and find.  Each day, each choice … moves us towards GOD or away from GOD.  Come and learn … how not to be a fool, how God provides, how to pray in the midst of trouble and the testimony of God’s care over all His words.   Reminder:  there is a psalm for every season of life.  GOD sees, GOD hears, GOD will provide the correct way.  Come and drink deeply of the refreshing River of God.

LUKE 13: So you think you are saved?

As Jesus continues teaching and as his time to face the Cross, the teaching take on a sense of urgency,  Jesus repeatedly give warning that unless you turn away from your sins, you will all die too,  Spiritual death in our eternal destination.  Examples he uses to convey this point:  Barren Fig Tree and the Narrow Door.  Powerful truths.  .

LUKE 12: Jesus teaches Fearing God more than man.

As Jesus continues teaching the people, calling those out who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.  Hypocrisy.  Do you confess loving Christ in front of others or are you a closet believer.  Jesus teaches us why He commands us NOT TO WORRY.  Are we aware of the times.  DId Jesus come to bring peace??

Right now we are all surrounded by voices tell us what we need to make this a Christmas to remember.  Like all the new car ads with beautiful bows being presented to another.  Every channel designed for children runs toy ad after toy add.  Even our preschool grandchild’s tablet apps are running toy ads.  Last month before the elections, we were inundated with promises and smear campaigns that left us jaded and sullied.  What do all these have in common … promises that will not fill that hole in our life that only the LIVING God can fill.  And fo those like myself who are struggling … one of the psalms gives us a perspective of considering our current affliction in light of Eternity. Reminder:  there is a psalm for every season of life.  GOD sees, GOD hears, GOD will provide the correct way.  Come and drink deeply of the refreshing River of God.

LUKE 11: Learning to Pray; Ask, Seek, Knock; Warnings

Jesus teaches his disciples how to pray.  We are encouraged to Ask, Seek and Knock to know that GOD is a Father who gives good gifts to His beloved.  On the other side of the coin, those watching claim Jesus heals by the power demon while others ask for signs from heaven.  Jesus begins to call out that the entire generation was in one word:  evil.  Ouch.  And Jesus teaches the people who will stand accusing them on judgment day.  Jesus issues warnings for those that lead and those who were the keepers oof the Law.  So much to be gleaned here today.

LUKE 9: Jesus Feeds 5000 and Cost of Following Jesus.

Jesus would have been considered a celebrity in our world today even though He did not seek out fame.   People love to seek out what is novel and those that everyone is talking about.  Jesus was changing lives not only through the miracles but by LOVING people where they were.  Especially those who were outcast or marginalized; those that were not considered “WORTHY” or “GOOD ENOUGH” by society’s standard.As Jesus’ fame grew people wanted to be part of the happening.    Jesus met needs.  When a large crowd was gathered as even came and they were remote, Jesus take 5 small loaves of bread and 2 small fish and feeds everyone until they were satisfied.  Jesus tells everyone what the cost of following Him is.
