We are back with week 2 of Brennan's Birthday Bash Podcast Smash 2022 and we are discussing the highs and many many lows of the 2022 F1 season. We ask the questions: WHAT IS FERRARI DOING?!?! And that takes up most of the podcast. Erin praises beekeeper Seb, laments the sacking of Danny Ric, and continues to remind everyone that Lewis Hamilton shares her birthday. Meanwhile, Brennan hates Max and Red Bull (part 2) and laughs at everyone being surprised that Ferrari sucks. We could say something way more eloquent with tales of hubris, but let's stop kidding ourselves, it was messy and often on fire. 

We're back after a two-week birthday hiatus to bring you, the Void, a birthday podcast about science, potatoes, Mars, and maritime law!! We're discussing the comedy classic (at least according to the Golden Globes) that is The Martian. It's about a man who gets stuck on a planet, does science to survive, and in the end almost dies to disco. There's the Council of Elrond (I think we've discussed this before. . .), David Bowie, and steely-eyed missile men. With the acting chops on display from the whole cast, and this visual master that is Ridley Scott, this film is out of this world.

Erin and Brennan ring in Halloween by visiting a city synonymous with the supernatural, New Orleans. They follow trails of dead rats and birds to find Tom Cruise rocking some frills and lace with a sad Brad Pitt mourning, well, everything. Luckily, we have baby Kirsten Dunst saving the whole movie, acting circles around everyone at 12 years old, while Antonio Banderas is also there, being himself (Erin's dream boy). We discuss how many dolls it takes to cover a dead body, the moralities of being the undead, and how annoying it would be to die of mime. Ultimately, we miss the chance to see multiple pretty boys be as gay as they were intended to be (thanks Hollywood).

This week we discuss fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles. . . the greatest story ever told! The Princess Bride is one of those movies that we have all seen, loved, and made us laugh, and boy did we laugh. We learned Brennan had an odd role model from a young age, Erin of course owns the book, and together as children they have screamed Inigo's famous line much to the annoyance of their neighbors. From Fezzik rhyming and Inido fighting, to Miracle Max and his MLT sandwich (when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato is. . .), we can all agree that this is possibly the most quoted movie of all time. Thank you Void for one hundred episodes of support, letting us work through our own corner of being quarantined apart, and we look forward to the next one hundred episodes.

This week, we check in with our friends, the Owens family and the curious case of how a bad man went missing. Erin gets some strong vampire vibes from Jimmy and Brennan is astonished that Madam First Lady Bartlet is so far from Washington! We discuss the impossible notion of a kind man that can flip pancakes, dancing in the solstice moon (clothing optional), and drawing pentagrams in whipped cream. Can Sandra Bullock break her own spell, or will Nicole Kidman's serial killer boyfriend ruin the bonds of sisterhood?

Huh, season 3, episode 33. . . Thrice to thine and thrice to mine, and thrice again to make up nine. Peace, the charm's wound up.

Grab your fur coats and forks, it's time to face the biggest evil Champion City has ever known: common sense and a gun. This week we take on the blockbuster fail that is Mystery Men, a film that is SO much more relevant today than it was in 1999. We have heroes, we have villains, and we have corporate sponsors. Our team is a ragtag group of amateur heroes with questionable abilities: shovels, spoons, temper tantrums?, and a boy who can turn invisible when nobody is looking. The antagonists on the other hand, have lasers, guns, flammable hair care, and brains. Will the terribly mysterious Sphinx guide them on their path, or will their path guide them? All I can say is Erin and Brennan are consumed with RAGE that more people don't love this film.

This week, the Earth is destroyed AGAIN. This time, it's on purpose from an evil race of CGI energy aliens called the Drej. Luckily, we're on a ship with our favorite president, Good Will Hunting, and bad girl Drew Barrymore, plus John Leguizamo, Nathan Lane, Janeane Garofalo, and Tone Loc. We discuss the magisty of space whales, the vampire-owl Gaoul, and how Matt Damon is a little punk with daddy issues. When our hosts aren't reviewing the film, they're rocking out to the soundtrack of countless drives and discussing Chris Hemsworth's butt. He's not in this movie, but we talk about him anyways. 

"So long and thanks for all the fish," our hosts sing as they hitchhike across the galaxy searching for the ultimate question after being let down by the ultimate answer: 42. We learn much about our universe, like how big space is, politicians are idiots no matter where you go, and that the creation of the universe was widely considered to be a Bad Move. Erin converts to the religion of the Coming of the Great White Handkerchief, while Brennan is beside himself at the defensive prowess of towels. If towels are that feared galactically, is a bathrobe the equivalent of mithril? In the end, we find more reasons to love our little blue dot and not forsake its beauty and benefits. But should the day come when a dolphin does a backflip through a hoop while whistling the Star Spangled Banner, it's time to run, but DON'T PANIC.

Contrary to the common advice for online dating, this time the magician gets the girl! Fall is here and we're feeling the vibes of sepia tone Vienna. The Illusionist is about the love affair between a duchess of Hungary and a young boy who wants to be a musician- I mean magician. Brennan had a really hard time making that distinction this week. We discuss conjuring, magic tricks, paranoid princes, and a tree that just suddenly disappears. Mostly we just talk about how much we love Paul Giamatti, the anchor of this Romeo-and-Juliet-gone-right story.

The summer may be over, but the heat is still lingering, and just like a lingering heat, our film this week is long, has a lot of explosions, and people are wearing next to nothing. By golly that sounds like a Michael Bay movie! Well, if you can call this a movie... then yes, yes it is. This week Erin and Brennan roll out in favor of the Autobots, not because they're the good guys, but because them winning ends the movie faster. Honestly, we couldn't tell the difference between the two sides, and didn't care. That was until we saw the LAPD Patrol Car and thought, "Decepticon. Definitely Decepticon." There's not a lot more than meets the eye with this movie except Hasbro. Is Hasbro secretly a Bernie Bot bent on defunding the law enforcement establishment? Ultimately, we hated this movie and spent so much time talking about anything else.
