  • Aladdin: Farewell, Prince Abooboo. . . .

Erin and Brennan go for a magic carpet ride and realize that it's probably an alien. There's only one way it could get to all those places in one night... WORMHOLE TECHNOLOGY!!!! If you haven't guessed, this is about Abooboo, I mean, Aladdin. This poor street-rat spends his days with his monkey friend Abu on the streets of Agrabah with ne'er a fiber on his back, I mean he doesn't even have nipples! Erin explains her THREE Jafar toys in detail (obsessed much?) while Brennan reveals his karaoke choices (You ain't never had a friend like me!).  We get into historical discussions about the Middle East in modern media, the connection between Jafar and Rasputin, and ultimately the revelation that aside from the shapeshifting Genie, no one in this movie is honest about themselves with others. In the end, Jasmine is one smart cookie and proves just how much WE SHOULD LISTEN TO WOMEN!!

  • Independence Day: Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum save the world!

These fly hunks and their cocky 'tudes strut through the Blackrock Desert bein' all, "Yeah, we just did that." It's Independence Day, fools!

Brennan is trying to not eat on air, Erin expands upon her lists of hunks (it's Jeff), and the Greatest President of All Times makes the dopest speech. Period.  Our hosts take on the lack of decent evidence for aliens today, praise proper special effects, and have a total soft spot for Boomer, the adorable, loveable, very-much-not-understanding-the-concept-of-the-scene-dynamic dog. In the end, we reaffirm that Erin and Brennan are space nerds with a homework list for our viewers: The Dark Forest Theory, The Prime Directive, and THIS IS WHY KLINGONS!!!

  • Raya: Awkwafina is a Dragon Genie!

Gather the pieces: Fang, Spine, Talon, Tail................. and Heart? That's the name you went with? Ok Captain Planet. Erin and Brennan learn to TRUST each other in their review of "Raya and the Last Dragon". This movie is about TRUST and the power of TRUST to reunite a fractured nation that doesn't TRUST each other. And their dragon genie has the power of TRUST and a killer backstroke. TRUST us when we say this movie is way better than ratings present. Erin is excited to have a husky-voice representative in the movie, Brennan is sick of animal sidekicks, and both agree that mangos do not taste like fear, they taste like TRUST. Yet another movie that proves just how much CGI has advanced with hyper-realistic air, fur, and HOLY POTATOES THAT WATER IS SO DOPE!!!! They also enjoy poking Disney for their lacking growth in discussing representation in media.

TRUST us when we say you should watch this movie. And give Kelly Marie Tran a big hug, she deserves it!

  • Mupper Treasure Island: I've got CABIN FEVER!!!!!

It's a down week for us here at Pshht Themes, but we are back with some silly Muppets, including Tim Curry! Erin and Brennan rewatch the greatest Muppet movie of them all, Muppet Treasure Island, the story of a mullet child, a rat, and a... whatever..., taking to the high seas in search of adventure and treasure. Erin dumps her treasure chest of pirate knowledge, but Brennan at least has ONE doubloon to his nerdy name. They discuss Muppet tattoos, Billy Connolly dying TWICE, and the severity of the black spot! Get ready to set sail on the big blue wet thing!

    Wow, that was terrible.

At least you're not one of the people who has to listen to it!

HO!! HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HO HOO!!!!!!

  • Star Wars: Mark Hamill Makes Vader Change the Subject

It's here, the final installation of THIS grouping of Star Wars reviews. After taking some time to thaw Erin from her carbonite, our core trio are back with their thoughts on The Return of the Jedi, plus reviews of the trilogy in total with additional comments about the digital changes to the trilogy. We learn that Jabba's robots are highly sadistic, Ewoks have evil emperor eyes, and Ian McDiarmid was only 38 when he first played the role of Darth Sidious!!! Obi Wan is a sly dog... from a certain point of view, Yoda doesn't want to talk family lineages, and many Bothons died to bring us this edition. . . .

    But wait, IT'S A TRAP!

Erin hates Vader's egg head, Matt explains the Rule of Two (no more, no less; two shall be the number of the ruling, and the number of the ruling shall be TWO), and Brennan is turned off by a poorly CGI'd  alien Joe Cocker.  This ends this transmission, May the Force be With You, Always.

  • Star Wars: Mark Hamill Crashes into a Swamp

Our core trio are back in the Star Wars universe to geek about the greatest movie of them all, "Empire Strikes Back". Erin has an interesting collection of Star Wars home merchandise, while Matt and Brennan establish that C3-P0 is the most KY ever, also, they establish what "KY" means!

*Insert new, more advanced, yet still cheesy PowerPoint swipe. This time a diagonal!*

Our group tackles the big developments in the Star Wars universe following the first movie's success: better graphics, better writing, new worlds, bigger budgets, and a serious discussion regarding Lando as the only black man in space. They discussed the risk of casting a muppet as the greatest Jedi master, did Vader hold his breath to scare Luke, and how Han and Leia represented the formative years for a young Erin. And let's be real, it's really creepy that Darth Vader can choke people via TV screen.

  • Star Wars: Mark Hamill Walked Into a Bar.

Buckle your seatbelts and engage hyperdrive folks, it's time to embark on the space opera of all times, for all times. We are joined once again by Matt Solo, a smuggler who thinks Luke needs to get good, Erin is our commanding princess leading the team, and Brennan is a space wizard in training, staring off at twin sunsets and singing his own theme song, but softly enough that no one else can hear.

    *Insert PowerPoint Slide Change*

This week we discuss Star Wars. No "New Hope" shtuff, it's Star Wars. Unlike George, we remember what it was supposed to be like. There is no Jabba, Han shot first, and that Storm Trooper's helmet didn't make a "doink" sound! Ok, that last one keeps us laughing, but the rest needs to go. This week there is no play by play, just a pure collection of reactions from diehard fans about the movie they love. We ask hard hitting questions like: is that red astromech droid really a Jedi? What IS the Force? Is Peter Cushing wearing slippers in this shot? Are the shots of Imperial Soldiers really THAT precise? Is this the only film George has written with GOOD dialog? The galaxy may never know, but we tried our best.

  • Dear Miki Sensei: My Heart Will Go On

Near, Far, Wherever you Are! I am here in my house, constantly sobbing, and our hosts will sing on and on! If it isn't clear yet, our hosts are tackling the dramatic tragedy Titanic, one of the highest grossing box-office films of all times with a mirrored success in awards received. Erin has issues controlling her tear ducts when she hears the first notes of the pennywhistle solo, Brennan realizes that Rose and Jack are "drift compatible", and they both have trouble properly listing the sadness of each moment from the saddest thing, to the most saddest things, to the mostest saddest thing, to the worst thing, to the mostest worst saddest thing. . . etc. They wonder whether the movie should have remained a two part VHS set considering at least one of the cassette tapes is all happy, good hearted, and filled with romance, while the second tape is nothing but sinking, freezing water, screaming, crying, and unbridled death. Spoiler alert? It is clear however, that after 20 years, this film is still unsinkable. . . unlike the Titanic.

  • Avatar Book 3: Fire. The Hot Stuff

Our journey concludes this day by the light of Sozen's Comet. The cards have been played, the pieces have been moved, and it call comes down to the final showdown between Aang and Ozai (Mark Hamill [We love you!]). But before the fighting must come. . . the fieldtrips, the invasions, the emo beach days, teens with no social skills, and a whole lot of stress dreams. Erin is encouraged, though chickens out, of doing an Ozai impersonation, Brennan is OBSESSED with details, and Craig keeps failing the Fire Nation and should be banished. Ok, we still need the tech, but for realz, it should be banished. Zuko (Dante Basco [We love you too!]) wins our hearts with earnest resolve, Katara is NOT on the mailing list this season, and Sokka is as brilliant as ever. Did he invent submarines? No, he drew people in a whale, a kind of Jonah thing I guess. But all things aside, the conclusion is nigh and we have dragons to cheer, Irohs to hug, and a whole lot of love and world peace to get to. Flameo, Hotman!

THE BOULDER ALSO APPROVES THIS EPISODE DESCRIPTION AND IS ANGRY HE DIDN'T PLAY A BIGGER PART IN THIS SEASON!

  • Avatar Book 2: Earth. The Dry Stuff

Erin and Brennan pour themselves a second cup of jasmine tea and recline in their Fire Nation Spa for season two of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  From missing bison to detective Sokka, Team Avatar is back in action and with a new cast member, the blind earthbender named Toph ('cause it rhymes with tough). Meanwhile, Zuko WANTS to get struck by lightning (yikes!), Iroh firebends in the Earth Kingdom capital of Ba Sing Se, and Sokka is batting 3/3 with female companions. Our ears are graced by Daniel Dae Kim's cheekbones, we're completely paralyzed by a room of Joo Dees, and we find our quest heading down new paths, and maybe-maybe even... a... SECRET TUNNEL!!!!!!!!! SECRET TUNNEL!!!!!!!! THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS!!!!!!!! SECRET! SECRET! SECRET! SECRET! TUNNEL!!!!!!!!!!     YEAH!

    Beware: Azula always lies.

THE BOULDER IS PLEASED BY THIS EPISODE DESCRIPTION.
(You just read that in The Boulder's voice didn't you... Yeah, you did.)
