  • ROAD TRIP MIDWAY Q and A
Just over halfway through the 50 states in 50 days road trip so I thought it would be a good opportunity to do a Q&A and share some thoughts on the trip so far and mindset moving forward. Thanks Thomas for hosting and thanks to those who threw questions at us.

  • Voices from the Road: TJ from Nashville, Tennessee
Welcome TJ to the show! A whiskey geek from Tennessee. In our conversation he takes us through the distinctions of what makes bourbon different from Tennessee whiskey different from moonshine different from Canadian whiskey and so on. He explains the process of aging and why type of wood is important and the roll that local climate plays in the aging process. I got to sample 4 or 5 whiskeys and he explains what makes each different. Really cool conversation with TJ! You’re as smooooth as Tennessee Whiskey!

  • Voices from the Road: Dan O'Shea in Beaufort, South Carolina
In this episode we cover topics ranging from the situation in Israel/Gaza, Sherman's march to the sea in the Civil War, parallels from pre Civil war to today, Electoral college, why Trump fans loved Trump and why their sentiment remains. We talk all things COVID- goverment oversight, handing away liberty, mask mandates, free thinking, business, my body my choice, and so on. This conversation lasted over an hour and Dan had lots to say. I appreciate him forming his own opinion and having the ability and eagerness to articulate his thoughts for us on the podcast. Give it a listen and chime in. Enjoy. This is a good one.

  • Voices from the Road: The Lufty Rovers from Great Smoky Mountains, North Carolina
Welcome the Lufty Rovers to the show! In today’s conversation we talk about the local elk herd in the Great Smokies National Park and the park itself. Places to go, sights to see, trails to hike. The Eastern elk which used to populate the Smokies was hunted to extinction and 20 years ago the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation brought these Manitoba Elk in a repopulation effort! Go RMEF!!
    2 notes:
1- I am not trying to make it standard operating procedure to conduct interviews shirtless..I just keep finding guests immediately after finishing my run.
2- my tripod broke early on in the trip and have been too cheap or lazy to buy a new one. My camera angles and setup are not acceptable and will look to solve that problem immediately. Sorry for the shitty quality.

  • Voices from the Road: Will and Alanna in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia!
Erik had a buddy on board with him named Willy. Willy wasn’t in on the conversation but I stayed on the boat with them for 30-45 minutes after wrapping up our conversation. They poured me a delicious Scotch and continued the conversation. Eric told me more about his life as a chef. Willy, as it turned out was in the Belgian Navy for 36 years and we even an admiral! He also served as a Belgian diplomat to the US. We covered a handful of topics from Marquis de Lafayette, what I would call my philosophy of the road trip- but from Eriks view and his take on the state of things both in the US and globally. This road trip is a roller coaster of emotions every single day!!

  • Voices from the Road: Quincy in Wilmington, Delaware. Owner of Milk & Honey Coffee
Welcome Quincy fro Wilmington, Delaware! To cut to the chase, this is easily one of my favorite conversations on this journey! Talking to Quincy was music to my ears, particularly when he got into the finer points of exceptional coffee and what coffeeshops mean to social interactions. Quincy is also a pastor. He was a great conversationalist and I completely buy into what he is promoting which is SERVICE TO OTHERS. He has built something really beautiful here in Wilmington with his 2 coffeeshop locations- Milk + Honey Cafe-Gallery. Check out this conversation and allow Quincy to inspire you! Enjoy
