  • Star Wars Theory Series Part 11: The meaning behind 'The Last Jedi'
This week's Star Wars Theory Series is talking about the hot news of the week: The name of Episode VIII! Now that fans know the title, The Last Jedi, the web began circling with theories. Liz Prugh, co-founder of Pure Fandom, is joined by her co-host Pat Pochop, as well as two guests hosts, Marty Pochop and Eric Prugh.
In this podcast, we break down the following theories:
-Is Luke "The Last Jedi"? Or, is Rey "The Last Jedi"?
-Is "The Last Jedi" someone completely new that we haven't met before?
-The Samurai feel: Mark Hamill has said this has a "Samurai" feel to it. We break down what that means.
-How Rey could possibly go to The Dark Side — and why.
-Does "The Last Jedi" mean the last of the community in general?
-Maybe Luke visited this planet for a reason — was it a Jedi Temple from the Old Republic?
-Old Republic vibes: Fans, we may get the history we've been waiting for. -Will Darth Plagueis finally tie into the story?

  • 'The Magicians' recap: Brad and Cort Talk ep 2x01, "Knight of Crowns"
ou know of Swayze? Of course, we know of THE Swayze. Yes, we have returned to Fillory and what an epic trip it was. Our Brakebills favorites are delightfully fluent in all things 80s/90s. Eliot became quite swoonworthy...well more so than usual as he took a moment to stage one of the most romantic moments in 80s movies history. Listen in as Brad and Cort break down, "Knight of Crowns."

  • Star Wars Theory Series Part 10: The most ridiculous fan theories
This week on Star Wars Theory Series, host Liz and guests Marty (her brother) and Eric (her husband) break down the most ridiculous Star Wars theories circling the web. The most insane one? That Rey is hatched from a giant blue egg. No, we're not kidding. Even more ridiculous, we actually started to (kind of) get on board with this theory after flushing it out. Our number 1 theory about Rey's heritage is definitely the Kenobi theory, but this one is worth a laugh if you want to spice up your theorizing.
In this podcast, we break down the following theories:
-That Rey was born from a giant blue egg.
-Luke and Leia actually had another sibling.
    -Rey is a Skywalker
-Rey is Kylo's brother? (We breeze over this one.)
-Rey is a survivor of whatever happened at Luke’s Jedi academy.
    -Rey's name isn't Rey
    -A whole lot more.
Listen to parts 1-9 of our Star Wars Theory Series here!
