Purple Insider - a Minnesota Vikings and NFL podcast

Matthew Coller and PFF's Eric Eager get together to play a game of "talk me into it..." They challenge each other to talk us into Chad Beebe as a good WR3, a Kirk Cousins extension, the Packers being a threat without Jordan Love, the Detroit Lions and the Vikings winning the 2021 Super Bowl

Matthew Coller is joined by Pro Football Focus draft analyst Mike Renner. They talk about Renner's recent podcast that called the Vikings' 2020 draft one of the best in the NFL and the 2019 Vikings draft one of the worst. They dive into Christian Darrisaw and Wyatt Davis's outlooks and whether they can make a difference on the Vikings' offensive line right away. Plus what does Renner think of Kellen Mond and Matthew asks Mike whether a player is a Vikings late draft pick or 2015 long snapper.

Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom are joined by Dane Mizutani of the Pioneer Press to talk about what they saw at OTA practice on Wednesday and heard from players and coaches on Zoom calls. Irv Smith Jr. has looked good in practices -- do we believe he's ready to take over duties as TE1? Mike Zimmer insinuated that the rookie offensive linemen will have a good chance to start but do the Vikings bring along rookies too slowly at times? Zimmer also talked about Anthony Barr's importance -- how will we feel about Barr if this is his last year in Minnesota? Also what if Kellen Mond doesn't start training camp as the backup? And out-of-context quotes that we strongly related to.

Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom look at the Minnesota Vikings' cap situation and discuss the bump in cap space now that we've reached June 1. For the first time in a very long time, the Vikings are in the middle of the pack in cap space, meaning they can spend on... something. But what will they spend on? Plus, a tweet reminds us of the bizarre nature of the Yannick Ngakoue trade and we play Nice or Minnesota Nice

Matthew Coller connects with former Bleacher Report writer Tyler Dunne -- who is now writing at GoLongTD.com -- to talk about his reports pertaining to Aaron Rodgers. Tyler puts more of the blame on Rodgers and his personality for the conflict between he and the Packers and doesn't believe that Rodgers will be back in Green Bay. Tyler also thinks it's possible the Packers let him sit out. Also during the lead up to the draft, Tyler wrote about Kene Nwangwu and Ihmir Smith-Marsette. He talks about both of their unique skill sets and stories.

Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic joins for the Friday Roundtable to talk about Mike Zimmer being named one of the five coaches most likely to be fired first. Matthew Coller warns that firing coaches who are proven to be good isn't always the answer and Jon and Sam Ekstrom break down how the Wilfs will evaluate their head coach and whether Zimmer doing things his way has been a benefit or detriment. And how does Kirk Cousins play into their timeline with Zimmer?

Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated joins Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom to discuss what they saw on the first day that was open to media at Vikings OTAs. Kellen Mond is working as QB4 behind Jake Browning and Nate Stanley and both rookie offensive linemen are working with the second team. Sam strongly thinks they should be starting. Will also talks about a comment GM Rick Spielman made about Kirk Cousins being a Viking for the next two years.

Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom dive into Aaron Rodgers's appearance on ESPN in which he talked about the "culture" of the Packers being the problem and not Jordan Love. Sam thinks it's over for Rodgers in Green Bay. Is there any way Rodgers can be convinced to come back? Plus Danielle Hunter did not show up for the first day of OTAs. What does that mean toward his contract situation? And Julio Jones's situation turned WWE style in his "cold call" with Shannon Sharpe.

Each year ESPN's Mike Clay puts out his projections for every player in the NFL -- literally. He joins Matthew Coller to talk about Dalvin Cook's workload, why he believes the Vikings' defense will take a big step forward, his projection for Irv Smith Jr. and Justin Jefferson and the projection that is getting the most anger from a fan base.

Matthew Coller and Danny Cunningham from ESPN Cleveland (formerly 1500ESPN in Minneapolis) talk about the hype surrounding the Browns and whether it's justified. Should Kevin Stefanski be considered one of the best coaches in the NFL or is he getting too much love because the Browns over performed vs. expectations last year? Will Cleveland beat the Vikings at US Bank Stadium in Week 4? Would you trade the Mike Zimmer era in Minnesota to be the Browns right now?
