Purple Insider - a Minnesota Vikings and NFL podcast

Matthew Coller and Sam Ekstrom are joined by Derrik Klassen, who spent his last few months compiling a massive amount of tracking data on all the top projected quarterbacks in the draft. Does he see any potential hits in the middle rounds with Davis Mills, Jamie Newman or Kellen Mond? Would Derrik be interested in Mac Jones at No. 14 if he were available? Also which unproven quarterbacks are frauds? Does he think Jalen Hurts will be good?

Matthew Coller connects with one of the top draft analysts on the interwebs, Eric Edholm, who talks about his latest mock draft and why he thinks the 49ers could take Mac Jones with the No. 3 overall pick. Which quarterback is most likely to fall? Why is Kwity Paye from Michigan a fit for the Vikings? If they were to take Best Player Available instead, who would that be? Plus Eric shares his favorite draft-night story

Sam Ekstrom returns to the show following a week off and discusses Matthew's article about why Kirk Cousins shouldn't be an insult when people compare him to Mac Jones. Would Sam take Mac Jones at 14 if he were available for the Vikings? Plus will Jeff Gladney's recent arrest matter on draft night? Would the Vikings consider another first-round corner to replace him? What do we expect will happen now with Gladney? And we play a game of what will happen to NFC teams at the top. Finally, a SimBull Market report.

Tuesday Morning Left Guard is back! Matthew Coller and ex-Viking offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles break down the Vikings' options with the 14th overall pick by making Sirles argue against every other position outside of offensive line. Would he be willing to make an exception for a top quarterback? How about if the Vikings could trade down and get a wide receiver? Should they just go best player available? Which spot would he make an exception for? Plus they talk about Garrett Bradbury's 2021 season and the biggest freaks Sirles ever played against.

Each Monday Matthew Coller is joined by Chris Trapasso, draft analyst for CBS Sports. On this week's episode we break down a draft simulation to start the show that has the Vikings landing Trey Lance with the 14th overall pick and whether that would be a good choice for the Vikings considering their present situation with Kirk Cousins's contract. Chris also breaks down the different styles of top wide receivers, including what makes Rondale Moore like Percy Harvin in his eyes. Plus they talk about the all-time great quarterback prospects and how they compare.

Matthew Coller and Intern Paul (who is technically no longer an intern) talk with Arif Hasan of The Athletic about how the Vikings are finally in a position to draft the best player available and how the progress of Garrett Bradbury, Irv Smith Jr. and Cam Dantzler will impact the future. We touch on the lack of depth at multiple positions being a driver for the trade down thought process except for when a quarterback is in play.

Matthew Coller gets together with Chicago host Laurence Holmes to talk about whether the Bears have regrets after Teddy Bridgewater and Jimmy Garoppolo's teams made trades for quarterbacks and the Bears are left with Andy Dalton. Plus Laurence is confused by the Panthers' trade and talks about the strange reports about Justin Fields. He also asks if Matthew has ever tried Taco Bell breakfast.

Matthew Coller is joined by Paul Hodowanic, who is filling in his week for Sam Ekstrom. They begin the show with a game matching terrible Panthers QBs who led the team in passing for 1 season to random factoids about said QBs to celebrate the Sam Darnold trade. Then they discuss whether the Vikings will now have a chance to draft a QB at No. 14 because the Panthers traded for Darnold. They also discuss which QB is most likely to be there at 14 and whether the Vikings would consider it and talk about Rashod Bateman as an option for the Vikings.
