Pursuing God with Dave and Gene

Peace is found between the pillars of God’s goodness and God’s control. Paul’s teaching on peace begins in Philippians 4: 4-5, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” When we find ourselves living between the idea that God is good and God is in control, it’s not that we’ll never be anxious, but our anxiety will be temporary, and ultimately, we’ll experience His peace.

Fear sees a threat and reacts. Anxiety imagines a threat and can’t move forward. Anxiety has been described as a tidal wave of “what ifs” that rushes over us. The good news is we don’t have to live in a constant state of anxiety. Keep listening this week as we talk about God’s remedy for anxiety.

Many people view church as if it were a restaurant. When people talk about the new church they’re attending, they say, “We wanted to be in a place where we could be fed more.” But spiritual growth and spiritual progress happen much more quickly in the kitchen than at the table. That’s why it’s vital to be in community with other believers.

Here's my prayer for us - that we will be a spiritual family where people genuinely build community together. I pray that we would have a family mentality when we come together and that we would put each other’s needs ahead of our own.

Here’s my prayer for us - that when we come in here and we gather together, that we have the same spirit as the first church and instead of coming together for entertainment, we come to Pursue God together.

God’s dream for His church has always been that it would be a place where walls come down. We experience His best when we are in community with others, no matter their political views, favorite sports teams, or economic status.

Maybe for the first time, as a result of our pursuing God together this week, it has become clear to you that you are in a spiritual fight, and the struggle is real.  Let me remind you of 1 John 4:4 The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Even with all of the spiritual armor from Ephesians 6:13-18 in place, you still shouldn’t be trying to overcome the Evil One and all of his attacks all by yourself. We were made to be Overcomers when we stand together!

Ephesians 6:13-18 give us the tools to fight the enemy. (NLT) …Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
