This week I rekindled my love of the square format when taking photographs. This is something that takes me back to composition techniques when shooting 120 roll film. Some of you might remember that? But it also has benefits today, for example, Instagram is square. So why not start as you mean to end.

Some thoughts on shooting Square how and why. Plus the problems it solves when pushing the button.

Following on from my last episode when I spoke about switching camera systems, I received a listener question asking what else is involved when deciding to change and what else should be considered.

Great question and thanks, switching is never as easy as just picking one thing. There is always other considerations, in this episode I cover a few of them.

For many, it is now a serious holiday time. Friends and family are usually the big things for those of us that celebrate Christmas. This year it comes with complications.

For me, I plan to step back and rest from schedules, work, content creation, and personal projects. It is my time to recharge and regroup.

You made it to December, that and so many other reasons are enough to say you have earned the reward you want to give yourself. Often we feel guilty about wanting to reward ourselves. I have news for you, it's OK to do just that. In fact, you probably need it.

I share a few thoughts on the how, why, and should in this episode.

I was watching a video of Harumi Tanaka, a masterful fountain pen maker on YouTube. He was saying towards the end of the video how some people hold their breath as they are turning the outside edge of the barrel of the pen to help them focus.

This got me thinking and I realized that I do the same thing at critical moments. I bet most of you do as well if you stop and observe your actions.

So how about you, what moments give you pause to hold that breath and focus on the moment?

To keep moving forward we all need wins. Big or small, it does not matter. You just need something that says "keep going".

In this episode, I talk about a couple of examples and ways to measure what you call a win.

First I get a little distracted by talking about one of my favorite movies and how this is the perfect time of year to watch those old thriller and scary movies.

But then I talk about the universal language of art and creativity to help cross the divide of communication when we cannot speak each others language.
