Our passage today is about a sad story. It's about someone who was “two-faced:” he was walking with Jesus, but at the same time, following Satan. His name is Judas. In this story though, Jesus knew exactly who Judas was, and what he was going to do. And yet Jesus let Judas do it anyway because of His love for us. 

今日の箇所は悲しい物語です。この箇所に出てくる人は、イエスと共に歩んでいましたが、同時にサタンに従っていました。彼の名前はユダです。しかし、この物語の中で、イエスはユダが誰であるか、そして彼が何をしようとしているかをはっきり知っていました。しかし、イエスは私たちへの愛のゆえに、ユダにそれをさせたのです。

In our passage today, Jesus is going to do a task that none of the other disciples wanted to do. It was a nasty job. But as He does it, He shows them His love for them, not just because of what He does but also through what He reveals to them. 

今日の箇所で、イエスは弟子たちが誰もやりたがらない事をしました。それは嫌な仕事でした。しかし、イエスは仕えただけでなく、仕えながら彼らに教えたことを通して、弟子たちへの愛を示されたのです。

In our passage today, John wants us to see just how much Jesus, AS God the Son, loves those who belong to Him. While fully knowing that He is just a few hours away from the cross, Jesus still lovingly caring for the needs of His own beloved disciples.

今日の箇所で、ヨハネは、御子であるイエスが、ご自分に属する人々をどれほど愛しておられるかを私たちに伝えようとしています。十字架まであと数時間であることを十分に知りながら、イエスはご自分の愛する弟子たちの必要を、なおも愛情をもって気にかけておられるのです。

In our passage in John, Jesus is now just one day away from the cross. It's time for Jesus to focus on caring for His disciples. But some time before Jesus goes to eat supper with His disciples, He does something amazing. He gives one final call for people to put their trust in Him. 

今見ているヨハネの箇所では、イエスが十字架を迎えるまであと1日になりました。これからイエスは、弟子たちの世話に集中する時です。しかし、イエスは弟子たちと夕食を共にされる前に驚くべきことをしました。イエスに信頼を置くようにと、人々に最後の呼びかけをされたのです。

Have you ever gone hiking and run out of daylight? The last place you want to be is in the darkness where you can’t see the path anymore. In today's passage, Jesus reminds us of how important this is in a spiritual sense: to walk in the light while you have the light. 

山歩きをしていて、日が暮れてしまったことはありますか？道が見えなくなった暗闇の中にいることは本当に怖いですよね。今日の箇所で、イエス様はこれと似ている霊的な状況に気を付けるように教えてくださいます。光があるうちに光の中を歩むことがいかに大切かを私たちに気づかせてくれます。
