During the COVID-19 pandemic, many small- and micro-farmers battled to offload their produce as market demand slowed and retailers clamped down on their supply chains to focus on major off takers. For our next guest, he saw this challenge as an opportunity to service his community as he saw the extent to which families were struggling with hunger. With the help of One Farm Share, his farm has contributed 4 400 kilograms of fresh produce consisting of spinach, butternut and cabbages. This equates to roughly 18 000 meals for nearby charities or beneficiaries such as the Masisizane Service Centre. The Centre supports 345 elderly people in the community who are suffering from HIV/AIDS

She is sharing expertise in farming to empower women in the sector and advise the Presidency on the agriculture sector.
