It's the first round of the MLS 2024 Season Playoffs, and Charlotte FC faced Orlando SC away and lost 2-nil. The queens would prefer to just forget this ever happened, and probably the team too, but the good, bad, and the ugly all bear discussion as the first home playoff match looms.

In the last two home matches of the regular season, Charlotte FC pulls off wins against Chicago (4-3) and Montreal (2-0). One cements a postseason berth, while the other makes club history with the first win over Montreal, and finally, every team in the East. The queens relish the goals and the victories, especially heading into Decision Day and playoffs.

It's the perpetual underdog Charlotte FC versus the top dog and MLS's constant darling, Inter Miami with the undeniable star power of a match-fit Lionel Messi & Co. The results hold a 1-1 draw, but in the queens' eyes, multiple reasons to see this as a win.

With a 2-nil loss in Orlando and then a 4-nil win at the Fortress for the Crown, the queens have footy fan whiplash. How do things go from being ugly and confusing and "boring" (we didn't say it, someone else did!) to four goals?!

Charlotte FC visits Montreal and racks up yet another loss in Canada. At this moment when only a handful-ish games remain, the single point achieved after Leagues Cup seems like a warning. There have been lineup changes, moves, and yet something still seems off, but the queens can't find common ground as to what they think is the issue.

Atlanta is out for blood when they return to face Charlotte FC at home in the Fortress. The queens agree that the loss here is worrisome as the Crown needs goals desperately in this playoff stretch. The Crown also sees another of its former players return and this time, the queens think it's clear Danny Rios remembers the club's snub.
