Queer All Year episodes

  • April 21st in Queer History, "Orange Julius!" Mattachine Society Sip-In
Hey everybody! Welcome back to another great episode of Queer All Year!
If McG sounds irritated in today's episode there's a reason: We recorded a great episode with lots of great banter. However, McG's computer decided to crash and we had to re-record. But have no fear, we've got the same great content! We note that Rome was allegedly founded today, eventually meandering into Star Trek and ultimately Harry Potter. Very newsworthy material. However, Cat's main story is about the Julius Bar Sip-In by the NY Mattachine Society. Similar to Sit-Ins in the African American Civil Rights Movement, this Sip-In was a great tool for peacefully protesting.

  • April 20th in Queer History, "Appreciate The Grass Where You Are" George Takei, McG's A Little Segment

Today's an exciting day for us! Cat and McG start off with some banter about the origins of the holiday "4/20". This is followed by the long awaited return of McG's "A Little Segment" in which he discusses safe social distancing tips. For our main story, Cat gives a biography of George Takei. Born on this day in 1937, he is one of the most famous and respected queer rights activists as well as an outspoken critic of government policies, since he grew up in a Japanese internment camp.

Cat and McG have a fun time trying to decide which description fits each other better. After that, we celebrate National Transgender HIV Testing Day! Make sure you get tested!

Today, Cat and McG start out with a little banter about rapper 50 Cent to lighten the mood. Next, Cat moves on to the main story: anti-sodomy rules for the Dutch East India Company resulted in a crew member being thrown overboard and an officer was left for dead, deserted on a small island. Also, we give a heads up that tomorrow is National Transgender HIV Testing Day, so make sure you check us out again tomorrow! Then we have some advice from a unicorn!

  • April 16th in Queer History, "Power to the Proletariat!" Barone v Har Jehuda Cemetary
Hey everybody! Welcome back to another wild episode of Queer All Year!
Today, Cat and McG have some fun banter about the Oxford Comma, debating whether or not cheese and lettuce is a meal. For our main story, Cat outlines the sad incidents behind Barone v Har Jehuda Cemetary. Once again, religious qualms have stood in the way of two partners laying to rest beside each other. Fortunately, we have Lambda Legal to sort it out and eventually the issues were resolved.
