Queer All Year

Today, Cat teaches us about the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Act, an act of Congress that expanded the definition of hate crimes and the penalties associated with them. Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. experienced horrific murders, and passing this Act ensures there are appropriate consequences.

Prior to 2019, Germany, like most of the world, had only two legal gender options - Male and Female. Today, Cat teaches us about how an intersex person named Vanja inspired the Senate of the German Land of Berlin to issue a statement in favor of an intersex marker.

Today, Cat teaches us how to love and support our intersex family. Intersex is a very overlooked identity, so this awareness day is extremely important! Learn what intersex is and isn't.

To hear us talk about bit more about legal issues surrounding intersex individuals, check out our crossover with the Getting Off podcast! (Sorry for the audio quality; we were a brand new baby podcast at the time.)

Show your pride with a selfie and hashtag #MyIntersexBody!

Asexuality is one of the most erased, discounted, and maligned identities under the LGBT umbrella. Fun fact - the "A" in LGBTQIA stands for "asexual." Sorry, allies.

In celebration of this awareness week, Cat teaches us about our normal, well-adjusted, awesome asexual family. We dispel some harmful myths, learn what not to say to asexual people, and remember that we're here to lift each other up.

What happens when a marginalized population - people over the age of 65 - combine with a second marginalized population - LGBTQ people? How do we provide adequate resources to people who may have already spent their entire lives in mental and emotional distress?

Cat talks to us about the First National Conference on Lesbian and Gay Aging and provides some tips on helping to prevent elder abuse.

Welcome to another "late to the party" episode! Spirit Day is an an anti-bullying day to bring awareness about homophobia in schools. Annnnd it might have actually been on October 15th this year. Actually, not "might." It was. BUT it was created on October 19th, so we're going to celebrate today!

Y'all. In this episode, Cat learns that McG had a VERY different and MUCH more awesome concept of what "gender reveals" were; then, she ruins it for him, you, and the human race. Sorry.
