Today, we talk about the wonderful world of conversion therapy. Most of these are christian groups that claim they can cure homosexuality or show you a path to avoid that type of sin. It should become obvious that we don't condone forcing people to undergo this therapy for something the patient knows isn't a defect. Cat talks in depth about Exodus International and their association with the "ex-gay" community.

Welcome to Queer All Year's first Juneteenth episode!

Cat is once again in charge of the audio, and she apologizes for the horrible swallowing noises, "ummms," and whatnot.

Today, Cat tries to explain without white-splaining the history of Juneteenth, goes briefly into some of the recent cases of murder in the Black Lives Matter movement, and then explores how the Black Trans Lives Matter voice is being stifled. Note: Everyone involved with this podcast is white. The official stance of Queer All Year is that Black Lives Matter, and we are here to listen. This is our very limited platform and we hope our little voice makes some kind of difference, but the main thing we want our listeners to take away is that listening until we're asked to speak is the best thing we can do right now.

Today we have the pleasure of telling you about the glorious Sally Ride! She was the first American woman in space and unbenownst to the world at the time, the first lesbian in space! She also was a brilliant physicist, notably having discovered the faulty O-rings as the cause for the disastrous Challenger explosion. After her death, the world found out that Sally's family had been very accepting of her life, including her partnership with Tam for 27 years. They had just chosen not to publicize it. It's so nice to have a happy ending for once!

Today, Cat and McG talk trash on the Family Protection Act which went into law on this day in 1981. As one could expect, it isn't about protecting families, rather this legislation took what little protections away from the queer community and also females in general. Then senator Jepsen, who championed this legislation to "save families" was arrested in a brothel. Good moral compass.

Today we have the pleasure of talking about the 1988 Southern Baptist Convention, which formed to pass a resolution on their stance toward homosexuality. As you can imagine, it was a bunch of homophobic pseudo-science. Then in 2019 they changed their policy to say the same things but with politically correct legalese. After that, Cat and McG start talking about our old church and the issues that have been arising with the changing world.

Today we have a fun story that doesn't end in violence! It's The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands. It was created by gay rights activists in Australia who seceded on the basis of the country's refusal to recognize marriage equality. They did so under the Law of Unjust Enrichment and did so until the government recognized their right to be married. As an American it sounds impossible to secede without a military invasion; The Kingdom declared "war" on Australia, yet no one was hurt or killed. Amazing!

Today, Cat talks about Colorado legislation drafted by the Colorado Family Values organization. This legislation was aimed at the repeal of protections based on sexuality. We also explain how this is part of a larger rhetoric to discount queer rights as "special rights." This has helped fuel a public perception that these laws are not to help vulnerable people, but to provide privilege over the general population.
