After the American Civil War there was growing tension between the ownership class and the working class. A series of economic recessions caused unemployment to sky rocket at the same time workers were being crammed into factories with horrendous working conditions. Working people began organizing rent strikes, fighting for better working conditions, and started unionizing at a rate never seen before in American history. On this episode Brian, Steve, and Lornett welcome special guest Derek Malinowski to discuss this, often forgotten, but crucial time in American history.
