Senior Lecturer Dr. Mei Peng, along with a team of colleagues at the University of Otago’s Food Sciences Department, have recently conducted research proving that the sensory experience of what we eat early in the day impacts on what we want to eat later. This is the first study to show these effects can last throughout the day. Dr. Peng discusses the repercussions of this study for eating habits and food culture, as well as its potential to springboard further research into how vaping affects appetite and food choices.
