  • How did I finish my PhD in with ADHD / ADD?
I talk about how I finish my PhD with a learning disability. This is a “disability”that I discovered that I had once I became an assistant professor.
I always struggled with school, perhaps much more than other people. I was in special ed until I was in grade 5, and then paying attention in class always was a challenge for me.
When people look at me, they don’t realize that I struggle with that, perhaps because I am the professor. But what they don’t realize is that I will never be able to remember their name, if I’m having a conversation with them I will not remember that conversation in 10 minutes, ends I have very little understanding of time in my head.
One of the hardest things for me to come to terms with was realizing that I actually had this so-called disability when I was older. I just thought that I had to work harder than everybody else. things just don’t stick in my head, and they never will.
Are used to look around at other people and think how do you remember so easily, and I used to really struggle with the idea that I couldn’t remember peoples names.

  • How to get a technology career as a non-technology person
How to get a #technology #career as a non-technology person? Getting into technology companies, such as #amazon, #google, and #SpaceX might seem far-fetched for many non-technology people, however if you’re keen on those places I strongly believe that you can find a great position for you.
Over the years, I’ve seen many people make a transition to and from #tech that you would never expect. Your career identity doesn’t define you.
If you want to tech career, you have to fully immersed yourself in looking for a position. From my perspective, you still have to be a “technology-nerd” so that you will be passionate enough to keep pursuing this option.
There’s three approaches to looking for a job in technology:
    1. Use a precision strike by fully immersing yourself in a technology area. attend technology conferences, go to technology associations, and hang out at bars and restaurants where people in these careers might be. My favorite of mine is to join a club like #Toastmasters in that area.
    2. Apply to every technology job that you can see. This means applying to every position, and every company that you can know of, regardless of geography. At some point somebody will bite, but it might take a very long time.
    3. Be vocal as a proponent about the pros and cons of the particular career, especially online. Document your journey to discovering that particular area online. It’s OK if you look dorky, but if you keep doing it repeatedly, people will notice. Again, this is going to take some time.
From my perspective, the key ingredient is persistent. If you want to get into a technology career you have to want it bad enough to dedicate a lot of time and resources to it.

  • It’s not about success, but about keeping yourself happy and healthy
whenever and cover the earth is bad Akademie is full of all sorts of people. Some of these people are happy that many or not. My job is not to succeed in this environment.
My job is to keep myself happy and healthy, and let the rest take care of her self. When she realize that it winning and losing does not make sense in the long run, you become good with you you are. You say screw you to the rest of the world

  • How do you know if entrepreneurship is the right thing for you?
Entrepreneurship is the right thing for you when you passionately know that what you’re doing is good, and is adding value to the world. Most people in your mediate circle will not understand what you’re trying to do, and you just simply have to say screw it and do it anyways. You have to know that nothing that you’re doing is right and just.

  • It is okay to not know what to do with your career
I think the thing we often assume is that there is a “right” answer with your career. Just find your passion.
We should go search for a new job regularly and seek out the highest paying and the “best” job available. It is a simple maximization problem that they teach you in #economics.
The problem is that you have costs to search, understanding which job is better requires incommensurate tradeoffs among dozens of criteria, and identifying the right career requires you to understand the alternative.
Here is the thing: There are no right or best jobs. You will never know.
It might be right for a moment and then change the next day. It might be right today, wrong tomorrow, and then right again the next day.
You simply have to be okay with uncertainty of never knowing what is right or best. There is not even the satisfactory alternative.
The only option you have that makes sense is to #bumble through life without even assuming you can optimize anything.
    Be okay with the bumble.
