  • The critical issue with climate change
From my perspective, we need to convert to renewable energy sources faster, not because of climate change, but because of our depletion of a non-renewable resource.
Climate change is a significant issue, and alarming, however the larger conversation that nobody is focusing on the depletion of resources that are irreversible.
From an innovation perspective, depleting a valuable resource that could possibly be used in the future for alternative reasons is a far larger reason for us to convert to renewable energy sources then climate change.
From my perspective, issues of climate change will become so significantly important that there will be a whole host of entrepreneurs that will focus on mitigating these problems. Destruction always gets our attention.
However, if we deplete a reversible resource, we could never get them back. This is especially problematic economically if we think of alternative ways to use this resource in the future.
However, the issue of possibility and opportunities is amorphus, and reacting to upside potential in a hundred years is not that interesting to most people.

  • Have fun and enjoy the process
There’s not much to doing good things in your life that require #courage, you just have to have fun and enjoy the process.
Remember all of those people that are trying to tear you down, they are actually NOT doing it. What the hell do they have to say if they have never done it. Just a bunch of armchair #quarterbacks.
They tear you down because they don’t have the courage to actually do it themselves.
    Stand up and keep going.
You don’t have to listen to the rest of the world, you just have to get up and tackle the world. Most people suck anyway, so why bother focusing on their beliefs.
And the more I’ve done interesting things in my life, the more I realize everybody else is in #highschool tearing each other down because they are too scared to do it themselves.
You simply have to just keep going building and climbing.
Those people that for you down simply do not know how important you really are. They’re sitting on the sidelines watching you actually do it.
Screw them, and do your thing.

  • You’re awesome, and thanks so much for being you
I just want to remind you how much I appreciate you.
You do not have to listen, read, or be are part of anything in the #R3ciprocity project.
It’s not every day that I get to meet people from around the world - virtually I can, but I get the impression that you are an awesome person.
    Thank you so very much.

  • Get Up And Keep Trying
The only thing that you could do today that will get you ahead is to try.
You’re not gonna feel like trying, and you are gonna want to give up, but the way that you keep improving is to try.
Nothing much will happen. You will only see minor changes, and most likely no changes, but it is that relentless pressure that moves things forward.

  • Push back against the environment
Push back against the environment. The only thing that you can possibly do to change where you’re at right now is to keep pushing back against the environment.
It will likely take you decades, but that’s actually how you make progress.
Progress is slow, but it happens.

  • Deadlines are problematic, and they often do not add much value in our lives
Deadlines are arbitrary dates that we choose to define our world. Deadlines are used a lot in #education, but are less relevant in the working world. They are not especially irrelevant in family life. #Deadlines are a product of Taylorism and the #professionalization of work.
Life is a continuous flow of information, and we punctuate this life with deadlines.
In academia, I have increasingly become aware that deadlines are not effective for some people if you enjoy your work. (However, they may be effective for many people that have difficulty working.)
The problem with deadlines is that they punctuate our life, which creates spikes of stress and anxiety, leading to problems in the future.
I believe that deadlines rob your future self - You work hard to get your work done by a deadlines and then your next day is shot because you are exhausted.

  • Elementary school science education should be story based
rather than teach about fax and data, we need to start teaching science in terms of the stories behind scientists and the struggles that they actually face.
Science truly is not about facts, but it’s about a story of scientist standing up with weird ideas and trying to convince other people that they’re weird ideas are more valid in the ones that they currently possess. Once we tell the story of consensus building encourage, people will understand the scientific method and scientific findings a lot more than simply talking about fax and information.
