As from next year, the grant payment system will be brought in-house. This is according to the Minister of Social Development, Bathabile Dlamini. The Skin Cancer Foundation wants government to start screening people for skin cancer when they go to clinics for basic healthcare. The foundation wants skin cancer to be prioritised like other diseases such as HIV, TB, diabetes and basic flu. It says myths around skin cancer and albinism are harming people, especially in African communities. The Foundation says people fail to seek treatment and if they do, it is already too late. Students will have to wait a little longer to find out whether they will be paying more towards university fees next year. Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has conceded that he was unable to meet yesterday's (Aug 31st) deadline to pronounce on the 2017 fee structure. Earlier this month, various student formations threatened to shut down universities if fees were increased. Top management of the Western Cape police say vigilante killings in Khayelitsha (on the Cape Flats) have seen a marked decrease in the past two years.
