Police in the North West have concluded the process of opening cases against parents, guardians and those responsible for impregnating over three thousand under-age girls. The Ministry of Social Development made the shocking discovery in the rural Ratlou Municipalit on Sunday. Some of the mothers are as young as 11 years old. They are believed to have been impregnated by older men. Police says arrests are imminent, pending the transfer of dockets to the Director of Public Prosecutions. Lucas Mothibedi reports

Democratic Alliance leader, Mmusi Maimane has demanded a progress report from Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela, who is investigating allegations of state capture by the Gupta family. This comes after the Guptas announced over the weekend that they will sell all their South African business interests. The Public Protector launched an investigation into this matter at the DA's request some months ago. This followed Deputy Minister, Mcebisi Jonas' revelations that the wealthy family had offered him the position of Finance Minister after Nhlanhla Nene was removed by President Jacob Zuma. Maimane says the investigation must continue...

SAA spokesperson, Tlali Tlali says the national carrier is awaiting the response of the National Treasury regarding the government guarantee for over five billion rand, which is being held back by Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan until the group elects a new board. This as the entity looks for for a sixteen Billion Rand loan to help meet its working expenditures and to deal with debt.....

Scores of former UDF activists have come together in Cape Town to mark 33 years of its formation. Most of those who spoke looked back with pride at what became arguably the most influential political force in the country in the 1980's. President Jacob Zuma says the just concluded the 6th Tokyo International Conference on African Development will lead to increased investment in Africa. Speaking to the SABC, the president said with Japanese and African companies having signed more than 70 agreements, the summit provides a win win situation for both Africa and Japan. South African Traditional Music Awards has honoured SABC COO by establishing a category after Hlaudi Mostoeneng. And Motsoeneng was awarded with an award for his role in promoting traditional music. The honour was bestowed at the SATMA function in Durban. SATMA founder Dumisani Goba says they decided to honour Motsoeneng for promoting traditional music. ANC's Parks Tau says they are planning to launch a civil case against newly elected City of Johannesburg mayor DA's Herman Mashaba over remarks that he allegedly made about ANC women in senior executive positions in the City of Johannesburg. He was speaking at the funeral of a councillor in the city- Nonhlanhla Mthembu, in Naturena south of Johannesburg. Mthembu died on Monday after collapsing at the inaugural council meeting.
