South Africans must learn the Constitution. This is the sentiment arising from a panel discussion hosted by the Thabo Mbeki Foundation. The discussion revolved around 20 years of the Constitution and the I am An African Speech. Panelists say there is a need to make the Constitution part of South Africans daily living. Communities in Vuwani and surrounding areas in Limpopo are starting to feel the impact of the shut-down. The local shopping complex is partly surrounded by police's razor wire, as angry protesting residents burn schools and infustructure. At some villages residents are forced to walk long distances to reach the main road to go and buy food at towns like Elim, Thohoyandou and Louis Trichardt. Some clinics are also not operating. This after the mine applied for business rescue a few weeks ago. Three workers remain trapped underground after a collapse three months ago. Gauteng's MEC's for Community Safety and Transport yesterday met with various taxi owners and traffic chiefs from across the province in an attempt to curb the ongoing road fatalities. This follows last Friday's incident on the R41 in Randfontein west of Johannesburg where 15 people were killed following a crash involving a taxi and a truck. Three people were also injured during a shootout between rival taxi organisations on Wednesday outside the newly opened Mall of Africa. Jacques Steenkamp reports.

President Jacob Zuma has sent an interministerial Task Team to the violence toned Vuwani area of Limpopo this in a bid to bring back stability. Some residents of Vuwani and surrounding villages have embarked on a violent protest expressing dissatisfaction over the Municipal Demarcation Board's decision, to merge their area with another one to form a new local municipality in the Vhembe District. Four Wits University students who were seriously injured after the taxi they were travelling in collided with a trailer in Mokopane have been transferred to the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg. Two ambulances left the Voortrekker hospital in Mokopane this afternoon. Meanwhile, the families of the seven students who died in the accident are at a mortuary in Mokopane, where they are in the process of identifying their loved ones. Rules of engagement took centre stage on the first day of the Claassen Board of Inquiry in Pretoria. Lawyers of suspended Police Commissioner Riah Phiyega accused the defence team of attempting to expand the scope of terms of reference of the inquiry. The inquiry was set up by President Jacob Zuma to determine suspended police commissioner Riah Phiyega's fitness to hold office.
