The International Criminal Court has announced it is launching preliminary examination into the situation in Burundi for alleged crimes including rape, murder and torture. At least four hundred and thirty people have been killed and over three thousand four hundred arrested in violence and unrest in Burundi since disputed elections last April. The EFF says it will defend it's leader, Julius Malema on a treason charge laid by the ANC at the Hillbrow police station in Johannesburg. The ANC was responding to comments that Malema made during an interview with Television network Al Jazeera. South Africa and Iran have agreed to increase non-oil trade and investment to a billion dollars by 2020. This emerged after bilateral talks between President Jacob Zuma and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani in the capital Tehran, Iran yesterday. President Zuma is on a two-day visit to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between South Africa and Iran. The lifting of sanctions against Iran in January has brought new opportunities for foreign businesses. Iran holds ten percent of the world's oils reserves, and has the worlds second largest natural gas reserves. Presidential Correspondent Tshepo Ikaneng reports

The United Democratic Movement (UDM) believes Johannesburg needs a complete facelift. UDM leader Bantu Holomisa says dilapidated buildings, poor infrastructure and densely populated settlements have turned the city into unhygienic environment. The World Health Oragnaization says the global efforts to fight and control malaria and the implemented actions to combat the disease are still a challenge, as today marks World Malaria day. WHO says the theme for 2016 - "End Malaria for good" - reflects the vision of a malaria-free world set out in the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016-2030. The strategy sets the target of reducing global malaria incidence and mortality rates by at least 90% by 2030. LTE Consulting Engineers is being accused of a billion rand maladministration in a tender for water and sanitation, which was allegedly awarded without following proper procedures. According to media reports, President Jacob Zuma has asked the Special Investigating Unit to investigate the matter. The tender allegedly amounted to R502 million, but then ballooned to R2.7bn within a year. The CEO of LTE HOLDINGS, Thulani Majola, says these claims of tender irregularity and investigation are not true.
