ANC Chairperson in KwaZulu-Natal Sihle Zikalala has called on party members to follow internal processes to lodge their grievances. He addressed the media at Mandeni on the north coast after a failed meeting with angry community members. The community refused to be addressed by the ANC leaders, demanding the release of more than 120 people arrested in connection with violent protests that saw six factories and several trucks set on fire in the area. Last night a clothing factory in the area was set alight as residents continue with their protest. Nonkululeko Hlophe reports.

Parliament's Joint Ethics Committee chairperson has rejected the DA's claims that the committee is an ANC hit squad targeting opposition MPs. The parents of 16-year-old Franziska Blochliger have expressed shock at the state of her body after viewing it at a Cape Town mortuary. Blochliger's body was found shortly after she was reported missing while jogging in the Tokai Forest in the Southern Peninsula on Monday. Police say it appears she was strangled. Three people have been taken in for questioning. Lynne Arendse reports ..

The Gauteng government has vowed to spend less on catering, travel, accommodation and telecommunications in an effort to cut costs. This is in line with Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan's call for all spheres of government to implement cost cutting measures. The province will however continue with massive investments on infrastructure to boost economic growth. It will spend 41-billion rand over the next three years to build roads, hospitals, clinics and schools to improve the delivery of basic services. Gauteng Finance MEC Barbara Creecy presented her 2016/17 budget in the legislature in Johannesburg yesterday (tuesday 8 March). Wisani Makhubele reports.

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan says the review by ratings agency Moody's comes about because of serious questions they have about he South African economy. Moody's has placed South Africa's rating of Baa2-negative on review for downgrade, hours before Gordhan goes to the United States on the second leg of his investor roadshow. Sakina Kamwendo speaks to Gordhan.
