The Free Market Foundation wants some sections of the labour law dealing with the bargaining councils be rendered unconstitutional. The foundation has approached the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria to have section 32 of the Labour Relations Act be suspended. The unions have lambasted this application saying the motive is to advance the interests of capitalists while exploiting workers. The Black Sash- a civil society organisation says they waiting with bated breath for what the Minister of Finance Pravin Gordan will announce at this year's budget speech, later today. Black Sash's National Advocacy Manager, Elroy Paulus says his organisation is hoping that government will protect the poor from the current difficult economic times.

Passanger Rail Agency- PRASA says it is working to rid itself of the legacy of its former CEO Lucky Montana. This as Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts asked questions about the agency's management practices and board oversight. The Auditor General found among other things that PRASA had incurred fruitless and wasteful expenditure to the value of more than 550 million rand. Worse was when Transport Minister, Dipuo Peters told parliament she had never met PRASA's Chief Financial Officer. Joseph Mosia reports..

Public protector Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says it a major concern that the post office moved to Lavish offices in Centurion at a higher rental. This happened , at a time when it was experiencing financial constraints. When investigating allegations of maladministration and corruption related to improper conduct in the leasing of the Eco Point Office Park, she discovered that the motivation for the relocation was doctored. Madonsela says the relationship between a key Post office official behind the move and centurion Vision Development, owners of the building, was poisoned. Morafe Tabane compiled this report

University Rector Free State, Jonathan Jansen says the university will deal with incidents of violence internally. Protesting students and workers clashed with spectators during a varsity rugby cup game, when they invaded the pitch and disrupted the match. The university has condemned the attack on protestors and at the same time did not condone the disruption of rugby activities. Konelo Lekhafola reports
