Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema has vowed to leave no stone unturned against any unruly elements within the organization. In his opening address to the EFF's inaugural conference currently underway in Bloemfontein, Malema noted with concern some of the challenges that the party encountered in recent times. Malema also used the opportunity to set a direction which the party's new leadership should take.

Miss South Africa - a 22-year-old student from the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein - has won the title of Miss World at a ceremony in London. Rolene Strauss, a 4th year medical student, put her studies on hold in March to compete in the event. As Miss South Africa, Strauss has supported projects in women's rights, health and education.

Police have identified four of the six men who were killed in a gruesome murder in Kraaifontein in Cape Town. Judge Thokozile Masipa ruled yesterday, that prosecutors can appeal against paralympian Oscar Pistorius' acquittal on murder charges, but not against his sentence or his acquittal on the unlawful possession of ammunition. The case is to go to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, and, If the judges there, find that Masipa had made an error in her ruling, they can impose a different conviction.
