The State will appeal both the conviction and the sentence in the Oscar Pistorius trial. Judge Thokozile Masipa, sentenced Pistorius to five years in prison last week, for culpable homicide. The paralympian admitted to shooting his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, after mistaking her for an intruder. Steenkamp died on Valentine morning last year. The Department of Trade and Industry has announced the release of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Amendment Act No. 46 of 2013. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the operation of the Act is necessary in order to enable the department to perform some of the functions embedded in the Act. He says that it is also imperative for the development of subordinate legislation, and to ensure the effective implementation of the Codes of Good Practice. Police are offering a 150-thousand-rand reward for information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa. The 27-year-old goalkeeper was shot last night during a burglary at a house in Vosloorus, south of Johannesburg. They say three men entered the house and one of them demanded Meyiwa's phone. There was an altercation and a shot was fired. sakina Kamwendo spoke to Gauteng police spokesperson Neville Malila....

Senzo Robert Meyiwa born on the 24 of September 1987 in the township of Umlazi on the south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. He joined the Orlando Pirates reserve side also known Yebo Yes at the age of 13 and was promoted to the first team on the first of July in 2005. During his nine year spell in the Premier Soccer League, Meyiwa had represented Pirates 157 times including last night's 4-1 win over Ajax Cape Town in the Telkom Knockout. A night before Bafana's 3-0 win over Sudan in Khartoum last month, he told the traveling SA media that his dream is to be one of Africa's greatest goalkeepers of all time
