Today, the 16th of October marks World Food Day. It's a day the United Nations has designated to profile the importance of family farming and small farmers in producing food for the world. But while each year the world marks the importance of this day, the crisis of hunger is not improving. We're told, at least a billion people in the world suffer from hunger. Here at home, the Solidarity Economy Movement (SEM) and the Cooperative and Policy Alternative Centre (COPAC) have issued a warning that, 14 million South Africans go to bed hungry every night.
