Cheryl Zondi who is the first witness in the case against controversial Nigerian pastor, Timothy Omotoso, says she never reported him to anyone because he had told her that if she did, God would either punish her by death or that she would go mad. Zondi is testisying in the high court in Port Elizabeth today where Omotoso and his two co-accused are facing charges of sexual assault, racketeering, trafficking for sexual assault and rape. Zondi hsa told the court that the vibrancy and youthfulness of the Jesus Dominion International church is what attracted her to join it but things later changed. Our reporter Veronica Fourie isfollowing the story.

Security company 24/7 says there has been a noticeable increase in the number of attacks on their officers where criminals target them for their firearms. Two guards working for 24/7 were shot and killed at the Nancefield hostel in Soweto last week and a video of the gruesome attack has since gone viral but the company has requested the public to stop circulating it. Police are yet to arrest the suspects whose faces are clearly visible in the footage. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to 24/7 security operations officer, Geoff Shapiro.

Vha-Venda King Toni Mphephu-Ramabulana says he is willing to pay back the R17 million he received from VBS Mutual Bank as a gift. He has released a statement this afternoon saying he did not know that it was proceeds from fraudulent activities. This comes after a report titled "The Great Bank Heist" which revealed how more than 50 people looted R2billion's worth of depositors' money. The King's name is also mentioned in the scathing report which recommends that those implicated be criminally prosecuted. They include senior bank managers, politicians and business people. Meanwhile..the employees of VBS Mutual Bank say they knew about the corruption taking place at the bank and reported the activities to authorities but that nothing was done. A worker who has been with the company for three years, has told SABC News he became aware after a year in service that money was being embezzled. This comes after 100 workers received retrenchment letters last week. The notices indicate that their employment will end on November the 12th. The Reserve Bank placed VBS under curatorship in March after the mutual bank started experiencing financial difficulties following evidence of widespread looting.

As the furore surrounding the unsafe buildings in the City of Johannesburg continues, residents of Newclare and Westbury west of the city, have spoken out about the dilapidated state of their flats. They say many residents have been injured due to the unstable structure and falling bricks. The flats have not been maintained for years and some of them look like they could collapse any time. Chantal Thompson reports.

A Johannesburg workshop on Obesity Prevention has heard how non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure are killing more South Africans than HIV. These diseases are as a result of a poor diet and lack of exercises and have been linked to obesity. This comes as the world observes Obesity Day today. The workshop has also heard that one in five children are overweight and obese. Thabile Mbhele reports.

The Cancer Association of South Africa ,CANSA, has expressed frustration over the continued shortage of life-saving drugs at public hospitals. The association says it keeps receiving complaints from patients who have not been receiving their chronic medicines, despite repeatedly raising the matter with hospital managers and health officials. This week, a Gauteng breast cancer patient described to SABC News how she collapsed at home, two days after the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg, failed to provide her with chemotherapy medication. Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has confirmed the shortage of certain life-saving drugs countrywide. Wisani Makhubele reports

As the date for the start of the final matric exams nears, principals of various high schools in Eldorado Park in Johannesburg, have organised a motivational session for learners in the area to encourage the to do their best. Pastor Ashley Sauls says they have to support their children because they are future hope for their communities.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura says government is willing to work with communities in order to fight drugs and other crimes. He was speaking outside the provincial legislature this afternoon after receiving memoranda from members of the coloured communities from areas including Ennerdale, Daveyton and Riverlea as part of Blood Friday. This in rememberence of those who have died due to crimes that involved drugs and gangsterism. Our reporter Angela Bolowana is following the story.

Tributes honouring the late SAFM presenter Rowena Baird are pouring in at the SABC. Rowena passed away peacefully at her home last week surrounded by her loved ones. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014 and courageously spent the rest of her life fighting it. A memorial service was held at the SABC studios today. She is greatly remembered by her colleagues and friends at the SABC

A 51-year-old cancer patient has described to SABC News how her life was compromised resulting in her collapsing at her home after the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg failed to provide her with Chemotherapy medication. The woman who is from Kagiso, west of Johannesburg has breast cancer. She says she and a number of other cancer patients were made to wait the entire day at the hospital last Thursday only to be sent home with pain killers because the hospital had run out of chemotherapy drugs. This comes as South Africa mark Breast Cancer Awareness month. Wisani Makhubele spoke to the patient who wishes to remain anonymous.
