Brand South Africa CEO, Dr Kingsley Makhubela has called for Africa and emerging markets to shape their own future. Makhubela, together with a high powered delegation from different sectors of the economy are in Davos, Switzerland where Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa is promoting the country as being stable and open for business. This is hoped to attract foreign investment opportunities in order to boost the country's economic growth. Makhubela however says in order for Africa to secure its own share of global economic growth, it must trade and do business with itself.

Another Eskom Senior Executive has resigned. Prish Govender who worked as Eskom's acting HR Head, was under investigation relating to the Trillian and Mckinsey saga. Govender resigned a day after Anoj Singh, who was the Chief Financial Officer of Eskom quit under a cloud. Are we likely to see more resignations at Eskom? Parliament's Evidence Leader in the Eskom Inquiry Nthuthuzelo Vanara says former Eskom CFO Anoj Singh is not telling the committee the truth about who arranged and paid for his trip and accommodation to Dubai in December 2015. This comes as Singh's evidence contradicted the evidence presented by Vanara. Singh claims that the trip was paid for by an acquaintance from the United Arab Emirates while Vanara revealed the opposite. Our Parliamentary Correspondent Mercedes Besent who has been monitoring the proceedings, - tells us that Singh also apologised towards the end of the inquiry which lasted until the early hours of this morning

The United States has joined global commemorations for the late Legendary jazz musician and activist Hugh Masekela. Masekela, who developed his musical talents in New York after being forced to flee South Africa in the 1960s also left his mark on the US Capital as our Washington correspondent Kevin McAleese reports..

Former Gauteng MEC Qedani Mahlangu says the decision to terminate their contract with Life Esidimeni was not hers alone, but that of a collective. She says it was a cost cutting measure and in response to the Auditor-General's concerns that the contract did not follow normal tender processes. The contract has been in place since 1979. Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini returns to the hot seat at an inquiry to investigate her role in last year's social grants crisis - which saw the extension of an unlawful contract with Cash Paymaster Services. The minister oversaw work streams, which are alleged to operated as a parallel process and hampered the Social Security Agency (SASSA) in taking over the payment of grants.
