Police are continuing to monitor the situation in Reiger Park in the East Rand in Johannesburg after residents embarked on a protest early this morning, blockading several roads in the area. Protesting Reiger Park residents allege foregins are getting RDP houses in the area. The residents tried to torche a councillor's house this morning saying he is NOT helping them. Speaking to that Sakina Kamwendo on #AMLive Human Settlement's Matilda Gasela says foreign nationals do NOT qualify for RDP houses however, beneficiaries of the scheme then pass their houses on to other people.

Northern Cape Premier Sylvia Lucas says they need to consult with the community of Bankara Bodulong near Kuruman, before they allow foreign nationals back into the area. Over 30 foreign shop owners were evacuated after their shops were looted and destroyed last year. Community members torched their shops and took stock worth more than 10-million-rand. Just few weeks before World Malaria Day, a new type of mosquito which threatens to spread malaria in South Africa has been discovered. A team of scientists from the Wits Research Institute for Malaria, who made the discovery, says this means South Africa needs to intensify malaria vector control. One of the Scientists who supervised the research is Prof Maureen Coetzee, the director of the Wits Malaria Research Institute. She joins us on the line to tell us more.

The PRASA board and former acting CEO, Collins Letsoalo, were having a heated exchange in Parliament trying to explain his alleged 350 per cent salary increase. Letsoalo and a PRASA delegation appeared before Parliament's Transport Committee to explain matters in the parastatal. It has come to light that Letsoalo - who was seconded from the Transport Department to PRASA - had allegedly raised his own salary. The director of the board, Bernard Phitsane, has told the committee that the board did not know about the salary increase. Letsoalo - whose secondment has since been reversed - has however vehemently denied increasing his salary saying he only enquired about a secondment allowance entitled to him.
