The country should be outraged that young and healthy boys die each year at initiation schools and nobody takes responsibility for that. That's the word from the Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities in Johannesburg. The Commission is holding hearings into the deaths of young people at initiation schools across the country. Bodies of suspected to be of illegal miners, have been found in Benoni on Gauteng's East Rand. The bodies were found late yesterday. 6 bodies were recovered on Sunday and the latest finding now brings the total number of bodies found so far to 14. The final report by the Ad Hoc Committee probing the affairs of the SABC will today be up for discussion in the National Assembly. Amongst other recommendations by the report is that president Jacob Zuma should consider firing Communications Minister Faith Muthambi for her role in the meltdown at the SABC, and the inspector-general of intelligence must investigate the broadcaster for setting spooks on its employees. Although there has been a sharp improvement in water levels of many dams in the country, the Mangaung Metro which includes Bloemfontein will keep water restrictions in place. This is because the water levels of dams supplying Mangaung Metro are still a matter of concern, This includes the Rustfontein Dam which is only at about 40-per cent. The Limpopo Health Department says it is looking at ways of putting the Thabazimbi hospital under a state of emergency. The provision of services has been disrupted due to flooding. The department's spokesperson Thabiso Teffo says the casualty ward has been closed and patients taken to other wards, while other patients are being transferred to the Bela Bela hospital.
